I haven't been to one yet. I understand they are about to open on in Sherman though. It's going in where an old K Mart was. Somehow thats sweet justice.

Looks like the Cabela's in Buda just outside of Austin will be open soon. The building looked ready to go but there was some major construction going on just outside the store on the service road. It's a big, big store.

i have been to the new one in spring. they do have some good deals, but for the most part it is like any other place. you have to know what you want and how you can get it for else where. but you can fondle the long guns with out asking someone to hand it to you

+1 on Knight Shadow's comments regarding the Sugar Land store

I have been to the one in Spring and the one in Cypress.  I like having them BC I can buy powder and primers there.  I hate the Jerkoffs at Carters Country and don't like driving over an hour to get to Bass Pro shops.

To sum it up, great for reloading supplies but I will order everything else online.

I went in to the new Gander Mountain over on Highway 290 and 6/1960 when it had first opened.  It had more handguns, long guns, rifle scopes, et all, than I had ever seen in a retail store before.  Was just blown away.  That was last year some time.  Went back last month to show off this great store to my visiting father, and they had maybe 1/6th the selection they had had when they first opened.  Guess it was just all show and blitz for the big grand opening sale... so now it's just another retail outlet as far as I am concerned.  Not complaining, sure beats a Marshalls.
