Relatively new to AR15.com but not shooting. I'm near Denton, have shoot at ranges off 35w/main, Winchester(or whatever they are called now), DFW Gun, and most recently I discovered Backwoods. Should be picking up my first AR tomorrow or Monday. Fired for 8 years when I was active USMC so not new to the AR either, just my first one for personal use. I'll try to come to one of the next get togethers and introduce myself. Definately interested in shooting at great than 100yds. Hello to all. |

A decent place to shoot is near Sanger( Just North Of DENTON). Called Magnum Sports. It is on Duck Creek road.(west side of 35) Basically an Old Gravel Pit, with Makeshift arrangements, bring yer own targets type of stuff. Not Nearly as Nice as Backwoods. No range Nazi's Either. I think Lou Charges $10 to Shoot. Never charges me for my Kids. He ALSO ALLOWS FMJ ammo. Backwoods Does NOT. This seems to be a problem with Most of the Local ranges now a days. I like to shoot FMJ so this is where I go. Maximum Range is Close to 175 yards. |

I'm down here in Carrollton and new to AR's (built mine in Sept and have about 500rnds thru it). I've been to Collin County Gun Range which allows FMJ and as 100yd max... Backwoods is noFMJ and Winchester (now Elm Fork Shooting Center) is anti-black-rifle and no FMJ. Here's a great resource provided and maintained by a fellow AR15.com'er: DFW Area Ranges Welcome to the fold! |

Thanks, the list of ranges is perfect.. I picked up my ar today: Like new DPMS AR-15. Has an A-3 upper with a detachable carry handle, 20" heavy barrel, a BSA red sight mounted on an accessory rail on the carry handle, and a 4 position collapsable stock. Came with hard carry case, 3 30-rnd mags, and 2 DPMS 10-rnd mags. Just need a day with tolerable weather. A buddy who is DPD is buying his first AR also, so I will get him to the range asap. Thanks again |
Is that the 4 day course that requires knee and elbow pads? He is supposed to take it when he gets his rifle I believe, 6-8 weeks for the RRA tactical entry with some mods. He said he heard the class was all that and they got down and dirty. |
I think DPD only has one range facility, right hrt4me??? It's by me, and lemme tell you... down and dirty is sooooooo easy to do there. Many times I'll go by, and they'll have a tactical team running in formation in the off road vehicle park across Mt. Creek Pky, in the mud
