Welcome!  Us "old timers" are happy you have decided to join us.  We hope you have a great time!  Here are a few tips to make your stay a pleasant get away from the hustle and bustle of a metropolitan area and the liberal pillow biting morons you are forced to share your oxygen with.

1.  Bring a chair.  If you don't bring a chair, don't sit in MY chair.  I did not go to the trouble of hauling MY chair 400 miles for you to park your butt in it.  If you forget your chair, the Super Wal-Mart in Vernon has a nice selection of chairs to choose from.  Shoot my gun, eat my food, drink my beer, but stay the HELL out of my chair.

2.  Pick up your trash!  Haul your trash out with you when you leave.  That includes your shot up propane tanks. There is a trash pit at the farm, but if it won't burn, don't throw it in the pit.  Haul it out with YOU.

3.  Don't confuse the trash pit with the fire pit. PLEASE don't put trash of ANY kind in the fire pit.  We didn't dig that big hole in the hard rocky ground and line it with 2 tons of limestone so you could put your trash in it.

Looking forward to seeing each of you there!

Dave,  you almost make it sound like that little truck of yours isn't up to the task of hauling chairs

It's not the chairs.  It's my fat @$$ that boggs down my little truck.

Great advice there, Brother DPeacher!

With the way the weather has been lately, better bring some cold weather clothes!

Personally, I enjoy the cold weather out there quite a bit.

Makes for some great Wild Turkey sipping around the campfire.

And about the brass from spent casings... you WILL be policing brass.  I recommend you plan accordingly.  A small tarp on the ground helps quite a bit.

Good suggestions...  I won't be up there this time... but I'd say... don't forget...

toilet paper!

You can eat my food and drink my beer, but don't wipe your ass with my paper!

Well, with someone else's paper, since I won't be in attendance.

I'd just plan on taking everything you'd take on a camping trip, and you should be OK.  Hopefully I'll get up there in the spring, when I have all my vacation.  ;)

Water for drinking during the day.

Some kind of towels, paper or otherwise.

And if you want to be everyone's buddy, bring a three or four pound sledge hammer for driving stakes into the ground....

Main thing...enjoy it

Well I hope y'all have a really good time out there.  I don't think we're going to make it unless the weather changes drastically between now and Thursday.  We don't have tents, and the camper would get mired down if we tried to bring in it.  I'm so bummed!

You can always haul the trailer to the Copper Breaks State Park across the river. Just a little unhandy at night, but you will still be there for the fun.. Just a thought.. fullclip

There are some steel targets we set out at 300 and 600 yds.  We do not have target stands for paper targets, but donations are always welcome.  Feel free to bring what you like to shoot at EXCEPT GLASS!  Bowling pins are great.  Stop by your local bowling alley and see if they have any pins they are throwing away.  Tannerite is always a blast .  There is a clay pigeon trap for use if that is your thing.  Shooting clays over the Pease River is a good time.  There is enough space out there to shoot thrown clays with a centerfire rifle...

No Glass Targets!!!!

That is a very good option.  It takes about 10-15 minutes to get from the Farm to the State Park.

I have been watching the weather as well, since I am really hoping to drive my car, not my pickup, to the Farm.  The weather reports have seen to be for rain on Thursday, and only a slight chance again until Sunday.

I'm bringing my GPS.  It is designed for road nav rather than land nav.  Great if that is what you want it for.  Lousy for land nav off road (too bulky, and the SW is not configured properly for that.)  I'll be happy to give you the rundown on it.
