Will we be required to act as range officer all during the event, or will we work in shifts?  If shifts, sign me up.

Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas...

I think ROs will work only in shifts, such as 2 or 3  hrs/day or so.

I wanted to have enough that no one would have to work more then a few hours.   Tiger Valley would supply our t-shirts in red with range officer on them.  It also might come in handy to have some type of sheep skin for those wanting in your file that says you have taken a range officer class.

Will it be at North or South?

I can do it at either location, which ever is best for everyone.  South gives everyone more opportunity to shoot what ever they want ( we have you run the line) and some people like the class III stuff

If you are doing it at the south location, sign me up.

I'd sign up if it's at the north range.

I would like to take the class, and volunteer some time as a RO.
Whether I can or not will depend on the details, like location and times.
I'll keep an eye on this thread for more details.  South range is my preference.
If it was any day of the week except Saturday I am likely available.

I'm up for any day but saturday also.  I got weeks of comp time this year and really looking for something to use it on.

Have you thought of having more than one class?

I would do a class at both locations, I don't want to do a class for one or two people.  As we get close to Gunstock and kids are back to school, more people may jump on board.  I would be hard with the dynamics of this class, having each person run the line, if you don't have anyone else to instruct.

TJ,
I would for sure attend the class at TVNorth if it's on Friday or Saturday.  If you only have it at TVSouth, I'll possibly be able to make it, depending on the day of the week the class if offered.

Alright, I'll say this because I had a bad day, and hopefully this will not look to bad on me or Tiger Valley.  Do any of you realize how many people we had volunteer to be RSO's last year?  Alot, and it was sad to say, that almost half of them had no idea of what it took to be an RSO.  This is a great class, THAT COST NOTHING!  You guy's spend a huge portion of your life on this website, and are activly engaged in the sport of firearms.  Take the time out and don't be wishy washy about bettering yourself with firearms safety.  If you are going to be an RSO at Gunstock, you've got to attend this class.  Do you guy's realize what Gunstock could become in five years?  It will never be that way unless people as yourself get off their asses and become proactive.  Again, I appologize in advance for offending anyone by my words.  I had a chunk taken out of my arm today, and I'm pissed at the world.  I'm okay, and will be active on the roads of Iraq tomorrow.  ARCOM members, get it together.  If TJ said we were gonna have a keg, and bump fire all day for FREE, this post would be full of people volunteering to come.  Sorry again, but it's the truth.

TJ, if I've stepped out of line, tell me.  I'll erase this post.

There are those who do, and those who don't.  What are you?

I can attend the RO class if it's at the Luna Rd. range.  I haven't decided if I'm going to GS yet.  But I will absolutely be able to help at the Nov 3-gun match, if partcipants are allowed to RO when not shooting.  And I do need it so I can help out at some of the other local matches.

TJ, I wont be able to attend the RO class( North or South range, Its a LONG drive from Florida ) but I would like to help out as a RO at GS04.

Do you recognize my SO cert. from IDPA, or do you only want people who have been through your class?

Ranger8541's comments are right on the mark.  I was a RO last year, and would be happy to do it again this year.  South location would be my preference, but I'll drive the extra 100 miles each way with a smile on my face if the North location is chosen.

Add me to the list... Either location is fine.  I am sure that I can get mm38 out to waco if needed.  Right mm38?  hen
Take care...

Maduce, you know that after hugging your ass all day last year that I will show up whenever.

For anyone that hasn't done this before, when your job is to stand still and be an extra set of eyes and ears for the instructor, you get to learn a lot. When you are not worrying about your gear, you get quite a look at what other people are doing with theirs. I think one of the biggest compliments I have ever recieved was Maduce telling me to fix a problem I had noticed. I wasn't there just to be a range nazi, but also to assist in teaching. This is a big compliment from someone with the history of the Tiger Valley people.

Hound, you also helped me out, and I tell you, I couldn't have done it without you.  You are right about the extra set of eyes.  You will see things that I will not see.  Thanks for your help.

 Ok....

Leonard convinced me to attend either location on Oct 2nd.  I'm saying it now since I don't want to put up with his prodding as the date gets closer.

I think the people that will attend should let TJ know now and what location, for right now it seems that the south range, in Watt, is the best for most that have replied to the orginal post.

 Who's going?  Speak up!

I'm a newbie but I'm planning to attend Gunstock and would be delighted to pitch in as a RSO.  Can you let me know who to contact?  Thanks!

TJ,
I'll reiterate what I said earlier............I would like to help as a RO, but it'll be much easier to attend the class at the North location.  If you will conduct classes at both locations, please put me down for the North class. Thanks.
