Hi, I'm the President of the Cove Pistol Club. A little info on our club> We have 3 gun Mathes the 4th Saturday of the month. We are located 4.8 miles south on hwy 116 when coming from Copperas cove off of 190. Our matches are usually 5 stages with Combat rifle, pistol and shotgun. We have 2 large/wide bays for setting up 4 or 5 stages, and sometimes a woods walk around back for combat shotgun thru the woods. Many shooters use the AR-15 including myself. I also love the Cetme, (not very competitive but a lot of fun anyway). If you are close to the Ft. Hood/Killeen area and would like to check us out, send me an e-mail. Our pistol club has combat pistol matches on the 2nd Saturday of the month. We are NOT affiliated with IDPA or USPSA but shoot a mix of both styles. Combat targets, bowling pins, steel, etc. Also, Our web site is down till further notice as our webmaster has moved away. |
ecelent info, I work deep nights every other sat, so I can make some of these. I am from N. Dallas, but that drive will be a breeze. thx again, c I im'd you my e-mail address |

Ok, sounds fun, I'll go. Just a couple of questions about the match and the stages. Will the rifle stages require reloading, about how many rounds in the rifle stages?(this will determine which magazine carrier I'll wear.) How many rounds in the shotgun stages? Will you require magazine rentention? Transition to sidearm if the longarm malfs, running out of ammo is not a malf rules? Also, what's the estimated round count for each weapon?....so I bring enough. Seeya next Saturday, mm |

This months match is a Team (Two Shooters) match, so pick your team member either before or at sign in. 22 May 04 0700 Set Up continues if required 0800 Sign In 0800-0830 New Shooter's Orientation 0830 Safety/Stage Brief 0845 Hammer Down Round count at least 40 rifle, 46 pistol, 25 shotgun, Send me an e-mail if you need more info. No mag retention requirements, no shooting below the required rifle hits to go to pistol. That kind of defeats the purpose. If the gun "really" jams, you can go to the pistol for backup depending on the stage. Pistol retention, yes, no floppy holsers, shoulder holsters, or leg holsters. If you need a holster, we can provide one at the match as long as we know ahead of time. Very friendly group. Many times a person didn't have the right gun or his broke and others would loan them one for the match. Our main purpose is to have fun shooting. |

Thanks to Txunracer for the invite and to Don for all the details and making me feel welcome. I swear, it was the other Mike that I was teamed up with for the reason we won. I'm usually doing pretty good to hold my own in any match. Let Lloyd know he has one of the better looking and functioning ranges I have seen. Hopefully I can convince some of the deadbeats up here to do more shooting than just at the Hun Farm or one of TJ's open houses. Len and the other guys at TDSA and NTIDPA also say hello. mm |
