Hey guys, I was thinking of taking my toys out to the range this week for some trigger time. Now, since I got into firearms 3 years ago, we've drove from our home in Carrollton to some land up in Gainesville to shoot. Well, needless to say, this is kind of an inconvenience just to go blow some rounds off. The only ranges I know of around here are the Winchester public range off of Luna, and the indoor ranges at Bass Pro Shops. The last few times we went to Winchester, it wasn't really enjoyable. The people working the place just didn't really come off as friendly. That, and they don't allow FMJ ammo, which is pretty much all I shoot out of my mil-surp rifles. Bass Pro Shops' range always seems to be closed due to maintenance, and they only allow 2 people in the rifle section at a time. I'm only 17, so I have to have a parent with me. I'm trying to convert friends to the shooting sports, however, so that kind of leaves them high-and-dry. Where do you guys shoot? I'm looking for a place that is pretty friendly, accommodates rifles and pistols (shotguns would be a plus, but not necessary), and accepts FMJ/surplus rounds. Thanks in advance |
| Collin County Gun Range in McKinney is fmj friendly. They have a 100yd rifle range, pistol range and shotgun range. They are located about 14 miles east of hwy 75 on hwy 380. Gibsons Outpost in Mesquite is also fmj friendly. They have pistol and rifle (50,100 & 200yd for rifle). You have to pay extra to use the 200 yds range and I believe they only allow rifles with scopes to be shot on 200yd. They are located at 1712 Lawson Rd in Mesquite and their phone number is 972-22-8127 or 972-222-6694. Garland Public Shooting Range is NOT fmj friendly. |
CCGR is 14 miles east of 75? its more like 5 miles east of 75. |
