So I guess Dent's Run is going to close for 6 weeks on Tuesday. Does anyone else know another place to shoot in the area? Someone told me about Rachel slate dump, but I don' know if it is legal for me to shoot up there. Really I just wish I could find a wide open space that I can shoot at.

The only public place that I know of is the Pleasant Creek WMA outside of Grafton.

I believe Pedlar Run WMA is open again.

There is the Sportsman's Club up above Rachel Dam.  I think it's just a lane or two, firing up the hollow.

Has the Dents Run place been improved much?  I used to put up the hay there years ago, but it was pretty spartan then.

The shooting range is nice.

Is it a club, or...?  What distances do they have?  

Years ago they had some makeshift benches on the edges of the meadows, could shoot a couple hundred yards or so.

Its public, it is to the right as soon as you get into the Dents Run WMA, it has concrete benches under a overhand, it was clean. I didn't see much brass on the ground.

I believe you can shoot up to 100y but I could be wrong and they have a 25y and 50y marked with mounds.
I've only been once and thats when I found out they were going to shoot it down for 6 weeks from last Tuesday.


They have a black rubber over top of the benches

Looks nice, fairly close to me, but heck, I can shoot 100y in my front yard

Be nice to find a decent long-range range somewhat local.  I hear there's one out in Fairview somewhere, but I think it's members only or by invite only or some nonsense like that.

A guy I meet at the range he showed me Rachel's slate dump you can gett 400 yards off up there, he said it was public land and no know cares if you shoot up there. I think I might call the county sheriff department and ask 1st though.
