As of today you can carry your gun under over or inside your shirt or pants. Conceal carry is legal for all Kansas residents.
Or you could just say you have your 2nd amendment right back without the government permit that was required to exercise your right |

Simply notify the LEO that you're carrying concealed and that's that? |

To anyone who is not licensed and will be carrying, an FYI. You may NOT carry a loaded gun in a school zone in any fashion, open or concealed, unless you possess a concealed carry permit from your state of residence and the school zone is in your state of residence. If you are exercising your right to carry a firearm under Open Carry or under Constitutional Carry and you do NOT possess a concealed carry permit from KANSAS you may NOT carry in a school zone in Kansas. You may TRANSPORT an unloaded firearm in a locked container in and through a school zone. A school zone is defined as the grounds of a public, parochial or private elementary or secondary school and encompasses 1,000 feet of the grounds surrounding the school. The ban on firearm possession in a school zone does not apply to private property that may be within that 1,000 feet but not part of the school property. Thank the Gun Free School Zone Act.. |

We are all for Constitutional Carry and support all gun laws that don't infringe on our rights as law abiding citizens. However please take the time to research the laws concerning open and concealed carry, anyone who carries needs to be informed on the legal and liability issues if you ever have to use your weapon in self defense. Even though it is not required, taking a concealed carry class just for the information is a good idea. |

Or you could just say you have your 2nd amendment right back without the government permit that was required to exercise your right the changes that went into effect on 7/1/2015 not only apply to ks residents but also to all qualified persons who may be residents from other states as long as they are within the state of ks. in short, when my brother comes to town from texas, he will be able to carry without a permit. there are a few advantages to possessing a ks permit not to mention reciprocity but also the aforementioned federal gsfza. those of us with permits will likely continue to renew them as there are not a whole lot of disadvantages to having one in your possession (no duty to inform, relatively low cost, same compliance with signs, etc). living in the kc area with missouri right next door, it's almost a must when you are likely to cross the state line on a weekly basis. perhaps one day mo (and other states) will allow ks residents to carry in their state on a dl but that's not the law yet so please continue to stay well-informed on the laws. |
