I'm in Topeka for a couple days.  Is there anywhere here to get a growler or two of micros to take back with me?

Unfortunately the answer is not really... Blind Tiger has a few brews in Topeka but it is a restaurant/brewery and the beers are not that great.

If you are coming from / heading back to Nebraska you could stop by Free State Brewery in Lawrence and grab a growler of copperhead pale ale.

I would recommend stopping by Tallgrass Brewery in Manhattan instead (if you can't do both) as they have a better selection of great microbrews. If you like IPA's or APA's grab a growler of Ethos and 8-bit, you will like one of them I'm sure. Velvet rooster is a good 8.5% ABV belgian tripel if you like that style. If you like dark beers Buffalo Sweat is a good oatmeal stout. Their website says they are open from 3-6pm today (Friday Jan 17) if you wanted to pickup a growler or two at the brewery.

Absolutely hit the Blind Tiger. I think their beers are great. They have flagship beers, which are always on tap, and some rotating seasonals.

Food is pretty damn good too.

Next time you're down this way you'll have to stop by Manhattan and get a growler from Little Apple Brew in town, they have decent beer and have food as well. Or if it's a Friday afternoon you can stop by the local microbrew and have a growler filled at Tallgrass, they really have some good beer!

+1 on Blind Tiger. I dont' get there very often but it's good food and great beer.

Free State brewery in Lawrence is pretty good, too. If you want a dinner and a show, eat there then take a walk up and down Massachusetts street and peoplewatch all the Moonbats. Wave hi to the "Honk for Hemp" guy for me...
