I went to Repticon in Columbia today with another ARFCOM member. Mainly went to get information and look around since I've been thinking about getting a snake. The show was at Jamil. There was one place that had tasers. Of course I thought of the gun shows when I heard one going off. There was a lot more room. If they could get rid of the junk vendors and those that get a booth just to show off what they have, there would be plenty of room. Columbia is one of the shows that allows the sale of venomous snakes. I held a few snakes and a panther chameleon. The other member showed no interest in holding a snake.
It was a great show as far as I'm concerned. Unlike the gun shows, every vendor had something to sell that was reptile related. No vendors selling nothing but a bunch of old books. I'll probably be back for the show in November. |

Saturn, What's up with you having these snake .gifs so readily available!?!?!?!? My occasional run in with snakes is usually not intentional. I think I will leave them to nature and not have them for pets. I have a hard enough time with a dog!
Snakes are relatively easy to take care of compared to dogs though. You could leave the house for about 2 weeks and come back to a living snake. Just make sure it has water, the temperature is right and feed it before leaving. No need to let it outside or feed it everyday. |

I always have to take into consideration how long Snuffy will be alone if we go somewhere. |

Saturn, I have chuckled at each, especially since I understand that Harrison Ford is terrified of snakes.
Bandito, I never considered the limited care needed. That is a good point. I will guess that snakes don't show much compassion, although it would be nice to not have a pet that shed hair everywhere!! |
Now, i'm not one to normally question the rituals of other cultures that arent harming anyone else.... But why dafuq do they have a cobra pit?
Who was sitting around thinking, "you know what would be a good addition to this place?" "...A deck? Maybe a tire swing out back?" "Nah, i'm thinking bigger than that" "I dont know, one of those japanese sand art things?" "No, I'm thinking more like a cobra pit. A pit with, like, 500 cobras that i can slap around and shit. You can record the whole thing" "I'm glad you were thinking that. You know, I have some Cobra Pit blueprints i've been carrying around all week. I know where we can get some free cobras to fill it too." |

There was plenty of others just sitting around. What kind of show they were picking them for, I have no idea. Maybe for a snake charmer. |
That has nothing to do with reptiles.
