Trying to get my ducks in a row and am having a hard time figuring this out. I am a New York resident with a unrestricted carry permit. I will be getting Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Fla. permits. Will I be able to carry concealed in SC? If so, whats the minimum license(Fla, PA, or Ct) that I can accomplish this with?
Thanks in advance, John |

I dont think so.
From SLED: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho (Enhanced Only), Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Residents of reciprocal states who hold permits issued by their states of residence may carry concealed firearms in South Carolina, but must abide by the restrictions in the South Carolina CWP law. For that reason, out of state residents of reciprocal states should familiarize themselves with restricted carry locations and other provisions of South Carolina law posted on this website. South Carolina permittees who carry firearms in reciprocal states are likewise responsible for familiarizing themselves with the applicable laws and regulations of the reciprocal state. Web sites of those states may be accessed by selecting the desired state name listed above. You are not a resident of a reciprocal state. On the other hand, half of the cops i have come into contact with in regard to CWP didnt understand CWP rules, so you'll probably get away with it. Granted, that was only one of two, but that's still 50%; plus it was a state trooper. Concealed is concealed... unless shit happens; but if shit happens, reciprocity becomes a secondary concern. |

SC does not have a reciprocal carry agreement with the state of New York, and SC does not recognnize "third party" permits. If you were a FL resident with a FL permit then yes. But there is ONE EXCEPTION: Non residents can get a SC CWP if they own "real property" here. I |

I wouldnt try that theory out. Highway patrol isnt too likely to probe beyond the scope of the traffic stop because their primary function is traffic related. They have, and use ther full arrests powers, but you get stopped carrying illegally by county deputies or city cops and you are more than likely taking a ride |
