When?
Is there going to be an HTF meet? |
|
I'm in for some laughs. I know we've done HTF meet ups at Doc's (and damn I love me some catfish nuggets), but let's go someplace different this time.
Also, is anybody looking for anything specific? I'm looking for reloading components (9mm, .40, .38 Special bullets), a sling for my hunting rifle, and .308 ammo. If I find any of those things, I will consider my journey into the bowels of Hell a success. |
|
I'm looking for magazines for my Ring of Fire .22 gats. Maybe a suppressor if Carolina Silencer is there and has a good deal. And of course, morale patches. My pockets arent deep enough for a shoulder thing that goes up.
How about california dreaming? it's near the fairgrounds. Or Liberty Tap room? Cock and Bull pub? Wingzone? mmmm wiiiings.... |

The only typical reloading components dealer, Reloading Unlimited, is hilariously overpriced. Go online with RMR or The Blue Bullets. |

Bulk bullets at any of the fun shows is rediculous. 100 packs? Miss me with that, thanks. Powder may be a little better now that i see it abundantly in the stores now. Well, rifle powder, that is. Another good site I have used recently for bulk bullets is xtremebullets.com. They had a killer Black Friday deal. i got 500 147Gr Plated round nose 9mm for ~$35, and 500 230gr Plated round nose .45ACP for ~$50. |

Quoted: I got a report that one vendor was selling 1K count boxes of 9mm FMJ bullets for $160 each. ![]() Still want to buy bulk bullets at gun shows? |

Anybody got an AAR for Saturday? I went on Saturday. The price of pistols continues to fall. I found the magazines I was looking for for my pot metal pistols, and picked up another one (John Hinckley RG14) for $60. ...I really like cheap, crap, fun guns. I found some large pistol primers for $31, and grabbed another ammo can. All in all, I think i only spent about $130 there. Upstate Armory Group had S&W shields for $369. I waffled on buying one, then decided I can just wait for the single stack Glock 9mm to come out. It was pretty slow when I got there around 9:30ish. I expected to see more people, but it was relatively empty. The crowds just dont exist like they did for the past two years. The vendors are basically the exact same ones over and over. No new wares either, just the same stuff being recycled. Powder and projectiles are still insanely priced. Folks are still neck-bearding .22 somehow...
I overheard two vendors discussing the John Birch society and I burst out laughing, recalling Ponti mentioning them in this thread. I dont know if they were there, unless that was them selling the books and videos against the left wall. What is with the guys that bring guns that arent for sale or to even touch? |

I bought a GOV/MIL/LEO-marked genuine Colt mag for $5. Saw some 20-round AK mags, but $20/mag was too much. Looked at a FEG HiPower, but $300 was a bit pricy for a pistol that had pretty much zero finish left. Prices are getting better, but still too high overall.
Of course, I'm a cheap bastard.

Got there a little after 9 on Sat.
Walked the entire show. Caught up with a couple people that I saw. Vendor had CCI #41 5.56 primers for $31/k Found some Win 296(H110) for $32/lb. High, but I cant find it anywhere. One place had old jugs of 2200 for $120/8lbs. Got a Coyote brown scabbard to put my pistol in for a truck gun. |

I spoke with two people today who went to the show Saturday. They concurred that they didn't see much money changing hands.
The next show at the fairgrounds is in late March. The 2015 gun show schedule is now posted: http://www.gunshows-usa.com/south_carolina.shtml |

It would require a huge insurance policy and considering that gun shows are outmoded marketing given the advent of the Internet you'd be wasting your time.
But yeah, A show with only guns, ammo, reloading stuff, tacticool stuff...that'd be a cool event. Someday go up to the Metrolina Show in Charlotte (they may be having a show this coming weekend). It's a much better even than anything you see around here. Problem is you cannot purchase handguns new or used. |
