Greetings.
The family and I are going to be visiting Edisto in July. I am hoping to get some local input. I am looking forward to a lot of down time but thought about taking the canoe for slipping around some back waters fishing and maybe even the four wheeler if there is an interesting place to ride. Perhaps most important I'd like to find a reasonably priced pig hunt. We don't need anything fancy and typically the guys that advertise a lot seem to cost a lot more. If anyone has local knowledge/experience I'd love to hear about the area. Thanks, Josh |
| If down time is what your looking for Edisto is the place to go. Beyond that i got nothing for ya. I dont think there are any pubic 4 wheeler trails down there. And all the hog hunts i know of are on private land. Plenty of hogs. I just dont know where to send you. Make sure to eat at the Old Post Office while your here. |

I live about an hour from Edisto worked there for 10 years. There isn't any riding trails there and not much to do other than the beach, restaurants and bars. I don't know of anyone hog hunting this time of year but I can check around and see what I can find if you like, just let me know (PM works best).

Don't know your experience with a canoe, but the back waters have a pretty serious current be prepared, you trolling or paddle?. Watch the tides best fishing will be 2-3 hours before high tide assuming normal tide levels. Try to locate a oyster bed to fish near, make sure near not on, as they will grab hooks like crazy. We use shrimp and float, mud minnows work ok too. Check catch size limits on red fish, can only keep fish in a certain range. If you like grits you can make the best your own as all the water on the island has a little salt in it |
