Sounds like a fair trade. I have a bunch of Peace Pansies I'll trade for any unwanted guns. In fact, I'll sweeten the deal. Instead of just one Peace Lily, I'll make it TWO Peace Pansies. They need to hire a marketing guru. The event is named "Peace Lilies for Guns" but I think "Peace For Your Piece" would have been catchier. |
| When I lived in Spartanburg, there was a church that a guy showed up too (a little independent baptist one) with a shotgun because he didn't like the church. The pastor's son was a CWP holder and had a firearm on him. They stopped the guy. Not only do I advocate for the the clergy being armed, but I am all for carrying in church. Every church I have been too usually has the pastor and a few people at the front as the only ones that can truly see what is walking in the front door. |

This gave me an idea. Why don't we have a pro-gun gun giveback? Let everyone who doesn't want their gun drop it off and we'll give them a flower, or a smiley face sticker, possibly a kindly worded note, whatever.
Then, we turn around and have a raffle to give the guns away to people who actually want them. Take the proceeds from the raffle and donate it to a pro-gun organization. The anti-gunners can feel all warm and fuzzy about themselves and enjoy their stickers while we get to enjoy their guns. |

IIRC, the guy was involved in a custody dispute or something along those lines. When confronted by armed response he dropped the shotgun and surrendered, and the incident was then seen as a "cry for help." Who knows how it would have turned out if he had not met resistance???? When I mentioned that I carry and asked my pastor for permission (IAW the CWP law), he gave me a green light with no hesitation. I know of a large local church that has organized CWP-holding members into a discrete security/response group. |

When I lived in Spartanburg, the church I attended had a nasty domestic dispute situation regarding two members. A few of us helped the lady move out of the home. We had to have a deputy come with us and everything. He was not supposed to be there, but he was. The next Sunday a few of the guys sat on the back rows, and they were all carrying. |

After I applied for my CWP, I told my priest that I would be joining the men in church who carry. I really didn't give him the opportunity to say no. It's funny that he frisks me every week as I'm walking out of church to see if I have it. For some reason the hymn "Blessed Assurance" came to mind. |
