I'm heading down for a visit next week.  I'm asking about purchasing ammo.  Do I need to be a resident to purchase ammo or can I buy it if I can find it.

SC is a free state.

I have lived here my whole life and have never had to show a permit or ID to buy. SC doesn't even have a permit.

As hard as it may be to understand coming from up north, this is one of many things that we do right in the south. I know it is hard to not be oppressed from your freedom since it has been drilled into your culture.

yes, you can. Some great 7/24 bars in Georgetown county just South of MB

Do you have to wait two weeks to get a handgun after you buy it? Do you have to take a government-mandated class in order to even possess a firearm? Can you own full-capacity magazines?

You can't buy beer in Sumter on Sundays. As far as I know, it is the only city/county in SC like that.

enjoy your visit,  there is a huge bass pro over in bare foot landing,  when I was there a few months ago they had a decent selection of ammo.
