I dropped my daughter off at dance last night and decided to go do the weekly grocery shopping. No issues at the store at all (It was right at 6pm). I noticed a lot of people buying bottled water and gallons of water, but no run on milk and bread. My wife's cousin went to the same store an hour later and found this: https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1/550297_10201941832125675_1094384411_n.jpg Why are people so stupid when it comes to 1 freaki' day of snow???? holy cow. that is crazy. especially since if we loose power, we'll have no way to keep the food good lol |

Haha! While i stay prepared for such events, I also work part time as a stocker at a grocery store; tonight we have a truck coming in, so I (along with 4 other guys) get FIRST DIBBS! I think i will grab some hot cocoa and maybe popcorn too, just to bolster my provisions. Kitty litter too for the driveway.
...i feel sorry for whoever has to recondition the store tonight, though. I bet the place is going to be a damn mess. 1-2-3 NOT IT!! |

Hurry up and snow!!
Sitting here all warm in my ammo fort, I've realized I can probably use an AK. If the Chechens, Canadians, whatever invade behind their cold airmass, I need a rifle that will use their ammo. I'd hate to drive across town this afternoon and get stuck at PSA's Farrow Rd location. I'd place in-store pick up orders from my phone while in the store and run out of available credit in minutes. |

After two weeks sleeping my car, they'd probably let me pick my own order. |
| Pretty crazy to go to walmart for some lightbulbs and a dremel and look around and the kerosene, coleman stoves/fuel/lanterns and all but a few flashlights are gone. I guess its a big deal to everyone here since there isn't much of this weather, but it is very odd coming from Idaho where this is what we begin to encounter around late october/mid september. |

Don't feel bad coming from Minnesota, I just flat out do not understand the closing of school, hording of perishable food stuffs and "state of emergency" for what could at best be called a dusting of snow that will likely melt tomorrow. But my little ones got to play in it for a little bit and they liked it. I know ... I know ... the eastern part of the state is going to be hit in ways they cannot handle. |

I look at the panic and think back to when I was a kid (yes, up north). This kind of forecast meant they would probably keep us inside during recess. ![]() This people down here dont know what bad weather is If there wasnt beer ammo and beef jerky then shit just got real and its now an emergency. |

Damn, they don't even fire up the plows around here for less than three inches. I so want to move down there, working on it. This winter has been brutal. Quoted:

looks like we have less than 1" and not much left to fall down here.... Damn, they don't even fire up the plows around here for less than three inches. I so want to move down there, working on it. This winter has been brutal. The main problem is that they don't have any plows down here (and really, there is no justification for the expense). When we get real snow (the last time in CHS was Feb 2010) it starts melting when the sun comes up. |
| We have about 2.5-3" on the ground here in Gilbert....not a big deal...what is a big deal is that we have a good 2 hours of sleet before the snow. All that ice is under the snow. I'm going to venture out on foot in a few to see if I can find a spot to take my girls sledding. |
| Nothing more than a few hours of sleet and maybe an hour of snow here in Beaufort. I'm on the ambulance today and already running BS calls. The kids were excited just to see the frozen trees. I've lived in Beaufort 34 years and just found out today that the door handles on your truck can freeze shut! Lol, who knew?!!! |

I found that out around 2006 living in Missouri - I swear there was a month of freezing rain storms. Took me about an hour one time to get into my car, another 20 to warm it enough to start chiseling the ice on the windshield, 10 min to drive home .. should have just walked. Roads were like a hockey rink. About 2 inches frozen to the truck. |

No thanks, I grew up along the NY border and have seen the effects of salt on cars. We'll thaw soon. |

I agree. I'd rather not deal with the salt. They didn't use salt at all when I was in Washington state.
ETA: I just saw the mail get get delivered to a neighbor. I have a package sitting at UPS due to weather... If USPS can deliver on a day like this, which is a joke BTW, then UPS should be able to. |
| It's thawing a good bit here in Central. My 10 minute commute yesterday afternoon was 30 minutes, which is not bad compared to some of my friends in GA. This also made me realize some essential items I should have in my car that I didn't have. Hope everyone stays safe. |
