Unless something changes or I end up finding a full time job somewhere else, I'll be in Charleston one weekend a month/2 weeks a year. I'll also have a 6 week stint in Charleston sometime early next year. I'm not exactly sure what my hours will be like yet. Let me know ahead of time if you'd like to go to the range or hang out ahead of time. I'd just need a place to store my firearms since I won't be able to take them on base.

I'll have to find out which one it will be. I'm going to be working on the aircraft engines though.

P&W F117 (mostly the same engine as the PW 2000 series on the 757).

Here's a tip: Don't troubleshoot by changing the EEC!

I hate troubleshooting those engines. I worked on C-17s for 3 years in Germany. There was one that sepnt a week there. One engine had temp issues. It was 100 C lower than the others. The problem turned out to be either the A or B channel harness. That was not fun changing at night in freezing temps with snow and wind blowing.

Did they use the FI manuals?  I've seen people take days to troubleshoot something because they won't crack an FI open.

Have you tried calling the security forces and seeing if they have an arms room?  You figure they should, since there's a skeet range on base just inside the back gate.

Not sure. I was on nights. They did the engine runs and troubleshooting during the day.

It looks like I'll be with the 315th. I'll be starting Feb 8th.
