Never been to DC before, going to visit a friend in VA and shes gonna take me on a day trip to DC. aside from the obvious sight seeing stops (WH, capital, monuments, etc.), what are some must see's or do's that ya'll recommend? best places to grab some grub or a cold beer?

Hawk N' Dove is a cool place, been around since the 60s. Its two blocked from the White House. GREAT food too. |

We ended up going to see Arlington National Cemetery, ate at Capitol City Brewing Company, stopped by the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, wandered by the White House, looked at all the pretty Christmas Trees, and took the train back home.
Still LOTS more I want to see, another trip is in store sometime lol |
