I keep hearing contradictory answers when it comes to the legality of Slide Fire stocks here in the armpit of America. I decided to cut out the middleman and call the NJ State Police Firearms Unit directly. Conversation went something like this:
Me: Hello Sir, can you tell me whether the Slide Fire stock is legal here in NJ? Him: Is what legal? (said incredulously) Me: Can you give me some insight as to whether it's legal to own a Slide Fire rifle stock in NJ? Him: What is it? Me: A stock that allows you to bump-fire a rifle. Him: What kind of gun? Me: An AR15 type rifle. (Why would this matter?) Him: Definitely not legal. Me: Ummm.....Ok........thanks. Gauging his tone and general response, I'm not sure he even understood what I was asking and just decided to err on the side of "NO". |

No Law Enforcement Officer in NJ knows for sure what is Legal, not even the licensing officers in a municiaplity or the poeple in the NJSP firearms unit.. No one knows.... it's CRAZY.
and they are all scared to answer,,,,therefor it's the C.Y.A. answer "NO." NJ gun regulations are INCOMPREHENDABLE....... |

LUGERMAN, didnt CJRPC say it is ok to use one at the range? I believe they approved a special use badge for them like the one required to draw and shoot from a holster. I remember there being some discussion about it on here a while ago. I've never actually seen anyone using one at the range. |

Would make perfect sense, this way when the LE show up they can explain what's happening AND of course they themselves don't freak out. |

You need a membership "key" to get in CJRPC. Nothing to worry about as there is nothing in NJ law to define them as illegal. |

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be legal. I wouldnt buy one. VLTOR makes a fixed modstock that attaches to either a rifle or carbine buffer tube. While this stock locks in place and does not move, the ATF told VLTOR that it is collapsible just because it attaches to a carbine buffer tube. I would be worried that NJ would follow their lead. |

I have to say that I think you may be a bit delusional if you think that a gate that requires a 'membership "key" to get in CJRPC' will stop the police from making themselves at home and checking shooters at the range. I agree with the sentiment, and will contribute to the lawsuit, but I will first bet that LE will go wherever they want, regardless of probable cause/reasonable suspicion |
