Hi quick question on behalf of a co-worker who lives in NJ. Can you own preban mags in NJ? Specificially for an AR 15, can he have preban 30 round mags? Thanks for the help!

Not even if they were carved out of stone in the Mesozoic period. The concept of "pre-ban" doesn't apply to NJ, as we banned all kinds of shit before the Feds even thought of it.

Post location and we'll give you a reference. Couple local shops have 15-rounders too, just can't take them back to NY with you.
