Looking for some place to go shooting handguns around central NJ. Im only here for a short time (days) so no places that require you be a member. The only one i have been to is shoreshot(spelling) down in Brick. Was hoping for someplace closer though. Im in the North Brunswick area.

Seems to be the trend for most indoor ranges that do not require memberships.

Unfortunately ill be at a wedding this weekend. Thank you for the offer though.

I have some friends and my brother (the groom) that live here and was going to take a few different trips to the range. I figure one person each trip would be about what i want to handle.

I brought out a 1911 in 7.62 Tokarev. Nothing fancy this time.

I don't fly out of  EWR anymore. Have come in through there and they have destroyed gun cases. I fly philly.

Something wrong with 1911's?

No not at all..  You cant legally bring a firearm into NJ if you don't reside here or aren't passing through to where its legal.

Is that handguns or all firearms?

According to the NJSP, It looks like all firearms unless you plan on residing here. And even as a NJ LEO, I still dont know all the wacky exemptions to transporting a firearm into the state to "visit". I wish you no ill will and hope you enjoyed your stay in this shitty state.

ETA: Maybe a fellow LEO or someone more knowledgeable then me can chime in.. I initially wanted to make sure you werent going to get locked up by PAPD at EWR. I know in NY its just as bad as anyone without a NYS Pistol Permit is seen to be violating the law.

So glad i moved out of this state. I tried getting a FOID card before i moved and left right in the middle of the process.

Wonder if this BS applies to out of state FFL/SOT's that are here.

It applies to all handguns, unless you possess a NJ Permit to Carry a Handgun.  It applies to all rifles and shotguns, unless you have a NJ Firearms ID card.

A non-resident has the same privileges and restrictions concerning firearms possession as a resident has...  meaning that a non-resident may bring a firearm into NJ if going directly to a range, then directly back out of state again.  But, coming into NJ to shoot at a range is quite different than coming to NJ for a visit, and bringing along some firearms on the off-chance that you and the visitee may want to go shooting somewhere.
