I left a rifle with the gunsmith there five weeks ago to be cleaned and to have a handful of small repairs done, maybe a $60 job. Is it unreasonable to think that five weeks is more than enough time to secure a sight, cut a screw, replace a screw, and clean a small rifle? Has anyone else had a similar experience there? I understand I am not bringing them a "big job" and I told them there was no rush, but I think I deserve to serviced like any other customer. If they still have it next week I think I might just have to go in there and demand they pay me .

Unacceptable. The small guy does not deserve a lesser standard of service than the big guy.
IMHO, it would be completely appropriate for you to bad-rep your guy on this site so we don't make a similar mistake. Where are you? In Burlco, I recommend "The Way It Was" in Moorestown. |
Took them 8 weeks to thread a barrel for me. Terrible CS most of the time. I only go there now to check out and handle something I want. Then I order it on line and have it shipped to Vinny. I would love to support the local shops but, if they can't be bothered with me, I can't be bothered giving them my money.

That is why I use Sean from here on AR15.
I ordered a Cooper 57 from them a long time ago. Payed them in full and waited. After six months I called, they said, oh, it is not in yet. You must allow AT LEAST six months. Another three months go by, call and still nothing. I called every three months. Never heard a word. At the TWO year mark I called the factory and told them the story. Cooper said there are no back orders for NJFG. Lori and I finally drove up there to ask for our money back. After two years I thought it was enough time as it was a stock 22lr rifle. When I presented the receipt to who ever was the manager he said it was not possible that they made a mistake. Yeah, well, it has been two years and I'd like my money back. When he went into the back office, oh yeah, we lost the order. Maxwell |

I called today like the gunsmith asked and he didn't pickup. I could understand if I were a "needy" customer, but I have done nothing but contact him when he asked me to and even allowed extra time to be given. I hate bashing on people, but some times it is deserved. I will give them until next Tuesday which will make six weeks. If my rifle is not done then, I will walk in and pick it up and never return there again. Also, when I get home I will be promptly calling the BBB because I hate being strung along, IMO that is the worst thing a business can do to a customer short of taking your money and bailing.
The gunsmiths name is J. DePazza and he works out of the back room at NJFG. I hope one of there workers reads this, but I highly doubt they will because the users of AR15 and the like are "beneath them." I wish Lou's smithed, they are so awesome there. We really need a good smith in Somerset County and if anyone recommends Efinger's, I am gonna give you a ripe kick in the ass and a slap across the face. |

Yeah I guess Somerset is a little far from Camden or Gloucester County. We have two very good dealers/smiths here in the area. While I do all my own repairs and maintnance, Rayco is my go to dealer and Bob's Little Sport Shop in Glassboro is also a very friendly place. If you can't find someone to take care of you and its too far to drive, give Rayco a call and maybe you can ship it to them. It should only take a day to get there and a day to get back, maybe a few days to do the work and your set.
I'll really never udnerstand the attitudes that some dealers have with their customers. They get paid to work with guns all day long, how bad can it be? I've experienced it at quite a few places and being a law enforcement armorer and multiple weapon platform instructor I would never want anyone to walk away from a day on the range or an hour of training with me with anything less than a positive attitude and at the very least the feeling that they spent the day with a good guy with good intentions, regardless if I was able to teach them anything new or not. I wish I had more oppertunities to work with shooters outside the LE environment either to teach or to learn and these guys scoff at the idea. |

...the users of AR15 and the like are "beneath them." Ahhh... The ole blued-steel and walnut bigots. I get it. I used to be one. Screw-em. I am a rare convert. Most are rude SOBs because they regard the ‘plastic pistol’ and the ‘aluminum rifle’ as toys and not real sporting guns. Find a smith who does not let such a bias influence the service that he provided his customers. |

Yesterday:
My co-worker: I have a pistol permit that will expire soon. Where should I go? Me: Try Firearm Guild in Rahway. They have a big selection TO LOOK AT to get a feel of what you really want. Today: My co-worker: I went there yesterday and they are a rip off. Way Overpriced. Me: Sorry, I forgot to mention that. I did say just LOOK! Not buy! |

... The ole blued-steel and walnut bigots. I remember telling uncle that I bought a Winchester 94 ($1,200). He was more excited than I was and wanted to go try it out. When I told him I bought my AR, he was PISSED at me for wasting money. He said that if I had $1,000 burning a hole in my pocket, he could think of a dozen more important things to spend it on than ‘playing army.’ You gotta love the old guys. |
