I bought a TAURUS 991 TRACKER .22 MAGNUM SS (Thanks PK!) and the desription from Taurus is conflicting. What better way (in some cases) to find the answer?  Here of course.
Here is the description from Taurus : "Need the ultimate in a nine-shot .22 LR or .22 Mag revolver? You've just found what you have been seeking. This wonderful revolver design with record-setting single/double action handles these favorite calibers just like you would wish. Taurus takes the proven Tracker design to the ultimate level with the introduction of 9 shots of affordable ammo. A casual day of plinking or more serious varmint hunting is offered to you in this nine-shot wonder gun!"
Am I to believe I can shoot .22LR in this as well?  Rumor is; The case will split on a .22LR if shoot in a .22WMR chamber. Did Taurus goof on the description or just that confident it won't happen? Any feedback or knowledge on this pistol?

I put 27 rounds of .22WMR through it last night. To my surprise it was accurate at 25yards right out of the box. Hopefully I will have time tonight after work to play with it some more.

Taurus also sells a .22 LR version of the revolver you bought. They   have the same product description for both models. I think they are talking about the design (available in .22 LR or .22 WMR) and not the actual model in question.

Thanks... I didn't think to look further on their site and check.
You would think accurate desciptions of each model be given.

Affordable ammunition?? I sold my .22 magmun because of the cost of ammo. And yes, .22 LR will split in .22 mag chamber. I know.

.22wmr case and projectile dimensions are all slightly larger than .22lr. If you try to shoot .22lr in a .22wmr chamber the cases will bulge and probably split.
