I got to play with this & KACs version during a NVS seminar in Georgia, be prepared to add some heft to your rig.
Be sure your system has adjustable gain as well, this will help you fine tune the system.
GEN 1 does not have this option.

You should check out the nightvision forum over in the Armory. I`m not an expert but I have been lurking there to see if that`s something I might want to get into. ATN isn`t considered the best out there. For the same amount of $ you could probably do better. Vic from TNVC is a moderator. The group that hangs there won`t steer you wrong. HTH.

I think it was just under 4K out the door. The NEPVS14 was like $3.5K

It is all on the TNVC website.

Matt, what kind of helmet is that? I am looking for GP lid for the noggin.

FWIW, I had an ATN scope and got rid of it. It had a Bullet Compensator built into and it sucked optically and the BC was off, even using the suggest ammo and what not. I had it mounted on my AR-10.

It is a Pro-Tec A-Alpha helmet.

Keep in mind once you get the helmet you need a mount. and and arm to hold the NOD.

I've been doing some research into NV for the future (Both because I can't afford to be spending a lot of money and it I'm gonna do  it, I'm gonna do it right, and because I want to have more info before I make a purchase). I'm not sure if I want a rifle scope, or a helmet mounted unit. Right now I'm leaning helmet mounted unit just because it offers more flexibility of use I believe.

Thanks Matt. That is a nice unit. I do a lot of odd things from mountain biking, search & rescue work, chasing zombies, etc. Being able to mount a Surefire on the side on my melon and eventually some sort of NV device is great. Having a single helmet as a do-all is what I was looking for. Good ventilation is a HUGE plus as well.

The rail on the right side is a great place holder for my Da-Torch IR flash light.  Amongst other things.
