I know there are a lot of firearms banned by name in NJ, such as the SPAS 12 (because it's so much more deadly than any other shotgun!).

The other day someone told me that the Ruger 10-22 was banned.  I couldn't believe it and still don't, but I figured I would ask.

Is it?  Or is there any type of restriction that he might be confusing?

nonsense. a 10-22 is fine in NJ.

of course, it needs to meet the stipulations that any other long gun must meet (barrel length, etc).

Stop listening to whomever told you. They will be telling you Ar-15s are banned too.

Yeah 240shwag, when I read Lunicy's post I was going to say that the AR-15 IS banned in NJ too

Another question that I had:  I read somewhere that in NJ a reloader isn't allowed to have more than 8 lbs. of powder.  Any truth to that?

Not true...  you're allowed up to 36lbs. of smokeless powder, and up to 5lbs. of black powder.  To store more than that requires a permit.  The statute is 21:1A-133

That's funny because Tom proved some people in this very thread are spreading bullshit too

FWIW, I read the 8lb. limit on either Glocktalk or Sigforum, apparently it was a mistake because the limit is a little higher.

There also may be local Fire Code regiulations that come into play..but those are usually retroactive to screw you AFTER you've already had another problem like a fire
