Anyone know where you can get a run down on what exactly is ITAR restricted for postage from states to UK ?
Thanks |
| As DI_Burnside said. Either order from a UK dealer who has a import and export liscence. Or order from a reputable US dealer such as Brownells or Midway. They will make sure everything is above board. Just remember you will get stung for import tax so when you look at a US price factor in what its going to cost after its been shipped and customes and handling charges |

I totally understand what you mean, I do purchase stuff from Brownells but they don't stock these
Blackdog 10rd SS Lip X-form magazine As you can see at 44Mag they are $15, Midway USA $23.99 and MidwayUK £36.88 I don't mind paying a little extra for the mags but when its 4 times as much from midwayuk than it is from 44mag. dum de dum de dum, oh for cosmetically pleasing magazines ................................... |
These things do often look like a bargain but if you factor;
The landed cost usually becomes similar. UK gun dealers need to take a cut and make a living just like the rest of us and we need them to prosper! |
| I agree, I usually buy for UK dealers. If my boss cant order it me in then I buy from a US importer (usually Brownelles) I recently bought a rail from them for my 590. Cost me $229 for the rail $47 for shipping then £47 UK import taxes and a £8 handling fee from parcel force. Unless you cant get the item from any UK dealler as its not common or rare then by all means US order providing it is legal and doeant breach ITAR. But rremember not only will it end up costing more i orderd my stuff from brownells early september and it only arrived last week. spent 2 weeks in customs for them to send me a bill. |

As long as it costs less than $100 and isn't a shotgun mag extension tube yes. However higher capacity than 10 requires an export permit there's State Department and ITAR, and then there's the Commerce Departments's Office of Export Enforcement and its Commerce Control List and Export Administration Regulations... just because it doesn't meet ITAR requirements does not mean you don't need a license... |

Blinking hell I thought the UK's systems were bad. So basically there isn't one simple one stop shop with the US Government to get a yes or no from. |

Are 30 round PMags legal in the UK and can I mail them to you in the UK? Do they open every international package? Hi Bear, the issue isn't with the UK side of things its the US export controls on mags over 10rds capacity. If you were to send 30rd mags overseas I expect you might get a visit from the Men in Black with a pair of Latex Gloves!

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Edited...VA-gunnut doesn't mean it wasn't a violation of the various export laws and regulations Do you know how to get an export license for something like mags? Hi Beararmy, if you are looking at sending out any mags over 10rds then you might want to check out http://www.questarms.com this is the company that Blackdog recommend. If you are only going to send out 10rd magazines as 'birthday presents' / gifts then you probably don't require a license. I am sure that Hrt4me might be able to assist with my 10rd mag comment. |
