Planning on travelling down to the January CSR comp and was wondering wha the options are for overnight accommodation.
Something cheap, but clean, either on camp or nearby. Any help appreciated. |

Your shit outa luck Zaz.
The only place that comes remotely near passable is st George,s lodges run by the London and middlesex club, but they are £60 per night, per room. OK if there are two or three of you to share the bill though. Bathroom and toilet which are old but clean, and tele, and microwave, toaster ect. We always use them for the phoenix and nationals. Canada house is ok. The bathrooms are communal, and there is no heating to speak of during the winter, but it has a bar, and the breakfasts are absolutely fantastic. The host, Garry, is a shooter, and a really great guy. Armoury facilities too. Its drawback is that its usually busy, and the entire house is made of wood. This makes it very noisy, and you need earplugs to kip if you are a light sleeper. £30 a night including the aforementioned breakfast. Apparently, the best spot on camp is the Army rifle club, but you have to be a member. They no longer take any civilian members like they used to, so basically you have to a serving, or ex serving military man to get billet there. They dont usually mind anyone using the bar however, providing you are suitably dressed, and its a very nice bar, and the barmaids are...... Do not under any circumstances go in the L and M accomodation....its a true shithole, and rat infested. Likewise the lines or the chalets. Full of mouse shit. I,m kipping on my cot in the back of the van. |

Quoted: The Crawford cabins are extremely basic and definitely not en-suite. It's a bit like camping in (heated) garden shed and apart from a bed (no bedding!),wash basin and a power-point that's it. They date from around 1890 when men were real men http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k23/buspass223/bisleycabin208.jpg Around £20/night showers are hot and better than sleeping in a van (just). Never saw any mice, snakes probably ate them all ![]() Who in god's name takes a picture of the inside of Colditz

can thoroughly recomend the premier inn, parkway, not that far away
I stayed there in the past at phoenix meetings etc, as I dont see the point in spending hundred and hundreds on comp entry fee's huge fuel bill, and then having crap nights sleep, I like to wake up and feel comfy, arrive on the line fresh and feeling awake |
