having drinks with Andy McNab, well for half an hour anyway whilst the students were revolting! Really nice bloke and very down to earth. Also a very good speaker. He was the guest speaker at a conference in Threadneedle Street today and then we caught up with him in the bar afterwards. Funniest thing was him telling us that he'd actually met himself. Apparently he went into a pub with his wife for a drink and at some point a bloke he was talking to told him that he was Andy McNab! He said that he didn't have the heart to break it to him and also didn't want any attention anyway. Top bloke. Before anyone says it there are no photo's cause you're not allowed to take pictures of him.

He was at the Cheltenham Literature Festival recently. Or at least he said he was Andy McNab, touting some book or other. Apparently not allowed to take pictures there either, but it's ok for thousands of people to see him in a public forum.................

It has become an almost religious ceremony but the detailed stripping and cleaning of my newest toy, this time another wooden swede, is actually a safety issue more that anything else (since a friends' 1886/92 Lebel blew the furniture off itself because someone had drilled a hole into the chamber from below, -deacting the dangerous way-)
So coming saturday a husky M38 will be performing at 300m...
