Strange forend configuration ? The straight support arm (ie as far forward as you can reach) is popular in certain quarters..JP VTAC if I'm not mistaken... Yes the straight arm is the position of choice for the US Army at the moment increases controll and speeds transition between targets during MOUT & CQB. Oddly enough I was instructed in this back in the 90's by the British and Italian instructors at the LRRP School it just seems to have gone mainstream over the last few years. |
USAMU did it to meet Power Factor requirements in the U.S. comp's as the scores in 'Major' are more heavily weighted.... We don't need to do that, and the 5.56 still has better wind figures than a .300 155gn bullet travelling around 1900fps.... I think I'll leave mine in the cupboard.... |

The AMU have some money to throw around. At $0.60 - $1 a casing the 30 Grendel ain't cheap to run. The 30 Remington AR might be cheaper to run and pushes a 150 gr bullet faster than the Grendel wildcat. Your tax dollars at work I take it you haven't seen all the hand built weapons they have plenty of money to play with |
|
Sure - they still have some $$.
But the 300 BLK is a bargain compared to the 30 Gremlin they were using (with custom mags). Not much money for sawed-off .223 cases & factory AR magazines. For capacity over 30 rounds, there are an insane number of reliable options these days. Horner is a good guy. He used to show up at some of the bigger steel plate shoots up in PA when he was only 13 or 14; back then he had a Tanfoglio 9mm & he would finish near the top though he was only a kid. Gun was sprung so light that you could get the slide to unlock just by thrusting the gun forward quickly. His dad used to come to some the outlaw 3gun I shot near Richmond; had the craziest beard I've seen since ZZ Top was popular. I am glad Dan is doing well for himself; his hard work over many years is paying off. |
