Anyone know much about availability here? I have seen two and think they were both built by SGC. Any particular reasons for lack of popularity?

Thanks.

OK, now I've run out of captioned pictures which seem remotely appropriate.
I was mainly interested in price, accuracy, reliability, build quality and how many retailers/builders of them are in the U.K? It struck me as a little odd that such a rifle isn't more common? The AR seems to be more popular than ever here and .308/7.62 is a very mainstream calibre.

Ok, IMHO here we go:

Too Big

Too Heavy

Too Temperamental

If they were that good more people would be using them, no one uses one competitively in CSR, they do nothing more than a half decent mag fed traditional .308 bolt gun can do for a lot less money and more reliability.

Much like FALs they are a curiosity, sometimes fun to shoot but ultimately cabinet queens

Any estimate on cost of a basic one? £1500+ish? Someone once wrote a thread about them on another site, proceeded to order one and updated the thread as it went on. I seem to remember it was a long wait! But he was quite pleased with it initially, or last I heard.

I suppose I should just phone SGC, or speak to them at the Phoenix in a few weeks.

From what I can gather, waiting for anything black rifle, from wherever you get it, requires
Patience . Not a fault of the maker or supplier, but often, all are victim of circumstance .

They only ever had 25 and they took the best part of 10 years to sell.
Any .308 based AR10 type rifle will cost at least £2500

He does, but it's not an AR10, that is a trademark of Armalite
He had this prototype at the Phoenix last year and it was about £2300-2500. He won't sell many and I can totally understand why.

The AR10 is a big rifle and totally different to the AR15

Is it a simillar sort of gun then Mark ?

I think you are right about the limited market, they are just too big a gun for PR, unles you are built like Garth, but i think the curiousity factor would get the better of a lot of folk  [ including me ]

It features a billet upper/billet lower, so will probably be rather heavy. Was built as a gas-piston operated rifle for other markets.

Not only available in 308 , but it is also available in .338. The rifle also will be able to take all AR15 stocks / forends etc so you are not restricted to just AR10 stocks etc.
Delay in production is both 308 and 338 will be available as interchangeable kit.
Think this puts a different complexion on things as its not 'just' a new AR10

Thanks. I look forward to seeing one. That sounds innovative and I wish you the best of luck in marketing them.
