Does anyone have the iPad? I want one but really don't know what I'd use it for.
What do you guys use your iPad for at the moment? I still want one but I think I'll wait to see if first, and I wouldn't get an Apple, I think I'll wait for the HP, or get the Zoom. |

E-mail, internet, games, magazines, iplayer, films, books etc, etc, etc... They're great - but expensive. The problem with the competition is lack of apps - even if some of the others are better hardware, they'll never compete with the software. |

That's what I thought you'll use it for but I still don't see the point.
At the moment if I want to check something if I'm watching TV I will use my phone, if I need to type anything of any length I will use a netbook. I just can't see where I'd perfer to use a iPad, I guess it's just me, and maybe if I used one for any length of time I'd change my mind. I'm not too sure about the others yet, I don't think Apple will have it all it's own way this year. From what little I've seen the software of the other machines is better, they scale the graphics so you don't need to write 2 versions of the same game. They also haddle the background apps much better, notifications is something that really annoys me with Apples products. I think I'll wait until I can have them in my hands and decide which is better for me, but at this point I just think of all these tablets as gaint phones. |

I think it's only when you use something like this you can really tell if it'll work for you. I wasn't planning on getting an iPad until I'd tried a couple of other peoples. Convenience is one of the main factors - netbooks take a while to boot, they are slow, and the battery life is usually pretty poor. The iPad (or other tablets) turn on instantly, and the battery life is long. (10hrs continuous video on an iPad - not that I've tried it!) iPads will scale any iPhone/iPod apps to fill the screen, but there are three ways of writing apps for it - scale the iPhone/iPod version, have a combined iPhone/iPad app that has graphics & screen layout optimised for each device, or a full iPad only app that won't run on the iPhone. Unfortunately, at the moment there are only a handful of Android apps that take advantage of the larger tablet screens (65 was mentioned!), and no HP WebOS apps. Compare that to the 65,000ish iPad apps - even if 95% are rubbish, that's still a lot of good apps... (and that's not counting the 350,000ish iPhone apps!) |

Hehe, I guess I'll just have to get one to try and see if I can make a use for it. I'll try get my work to buy one :)
My netbook ins't that slow for what I use it for, it also boots within 10 seconds from sleep and the battery will last for at least 8 hours on internet, word, remote desktop etc. It's done it a few times. I haven't really seen an Android tablet yet, but at this rate there are going to be more makes of Android tablets than apps for them. |

I really want a decent ebook reader and, as much as I hate to say anything positive about Apple, the iPad does seem to fit the bill very well for my purposes but... bloody hell it's expensive Big savings on the current models: http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad?mco=OTY2ODcwMQ |

LOL, I'm sure that they do, but I'm not the one who has orderd one without testing it out first :) I'm still not sure what use they are, I can't see them replacing a Netbook for typing anything more than a few words (ie right now), or my phone for general surfing in front of the TV. I'm going to wait and test one out in the shop before I decide if to buy or not. |

Quoted: I was (still am) tempted by the BeBook, but I spend a lot of time near WiFi access points wishing I had internet access. That's where the iPad scores a few bonus points.Quoted: I really want a decent ebook reader and, as much as I hate to say anything positive about Apple, the iPad does seem to fit the bill very well for my purposes but... bloody hell it's expensive In my humble opinion, get an e-ink machine if you want a reader. I know, I know, the correct Arfcom answer is to get both |

The app syncs with my Nook. |
