Looks like its going to be good.

And although I am not religious, if anybody was going to make me a believer, it would be Mr Cash.

That's what I thought. Yes it could be good, but what was wrong with the original?

A very good movie I'm a big fan of the original so I was skeptical to say the least !

I was very surprised how good it was!

I'm a big fan of the original - however I also really liked "No Country for Old men" which is by the same film makers; so it is definitely one I want to see

I would like to see a decent modern remake of The Dam Busters and The Cockleshell Heroes.  Two of my favorites as a child.

Not likely unless history was changed and the Yanks did it.

Yes indeed.

I particularly liked the ending.

That Tommy Lee Jones was well cast.

It's pretty much exactly the same as the book - except you get a bit more background on Tommy Lee Jones' character.

And the next film I saw Javier Bardem in was Vicky Christina Barcelona total contrast to the Mexican killer in No Country

PC correction would name him Trigger.
In fact, that's the dogs name when I first saw the movie on TV, Way Back Then...

There were plans for a Hollywood remake of dam busters when I was working at coningsby
Which is where the battle of Britain memorial flight lives.
( Also where I first met the wife)
But in the end they refused to assist, due to too many things being inaccurate about the story,
One of which was the dogs name, which would of been blacky

It was due out last week.

Then its UK release was delayed ( apparently to "help" The Kings Speech to win more awards - True Grit might have overshadowed it ? )

Was moved to this week. But now delayed again.

Was looking forward to it too.

Annoyed

I have read a report which said the dog is called "Niggs" or "Niggsy". The new movie should be out soon, it will be interesting to see.

Just watched this, and have to say it was a big letdown.

No pun intended when I say, it's not a patch on the original.

I really preferred the pure hokum of the original to the realism of this remake, or to use a quote from another legendary western, "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend".

Well I saw it last night.

I was impressed. Mr Bridges played the part very well.

Its much more authentic than the family friendly original but thats not surprising considering the directors !

I was in the Dambusters museum, which is inside one of the towers on the Dam in Derbyshire, only a couple of months ago. The dogs collar is in a cabinet there, along with a whole host of Guy Gibson, s personal effects. I wasn,t certain, but the dogs id tag, which is in the shape of a VC either has had the name roughly removed, or it was displayed, showing the back only. I was disgusted, and told the curator so....he wholeheartedly agreed with me.
History is history, and denying people were called such names only makes it worse.

I cant wait to see the new true grit...i loved the original.

"Fill your hand....you son of a bitch "

What a guy.

Where I went to see it , the movie started a full 25 mins after posted time.

More and more adverts these days.

I had finished the snacks ( which I took out a small mortgage to pay for ) before it even started.
