I need some form of front handle for a newly aquired .30 carbine. It definatly needs something to push against when operating the grip cocker.
I,ve never used the magpul AFG, what are they like ? Comfortable ? does any user think they would fit the bill for what i need ? Or do i need to go the traditional handle route ? |

Quoted: Having never used one, i did wonder just what they offered over a trad grip. Thanks fella,s. I quite like the look and feel of the tango down stubby,s. My mate has one. While I'm not a fan of any of them really (for CSR reasons), I do have one on my .22 bacause it came as part of the Larue UDE kit. That said, I find it odd holding it and use it more a a point of reference/handstop. I really don't like the AFG as it feels very unnatural, lowers the C of G and compeltely restricts any movement on the handguard, thus removing any flexibility. For your purposes a tradition VFG may be preferable. I do find those Magpul ones to be a bit small though |

Traditional grip would be better IMO. AFG is marketing cobblers designed to attract the gullible. These gullible types are usually poofters who generally out themselves in threads like this by saying they really like them Airsoft, you have described yourself to a T As usual.

Having never used one, i did wonder just what they offered over a trad grip. Thanks fella,s. I quite like the look and feel of the tango down stubby,s. My mate has one. ..and this.. That said, I find it odd holding it and use it more a a point of reference/handstop. I have a full size VFG on my V22 but actually use it as Mark describes, so it only needs to be a stubby, might have to change it................ |

Andy. Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they are yours.......... I was being ironic. Believe it or not, I actually tried a few grips before settling on the AFG, it's a comfy fit & I can shoot ok with it. I listen to what people say about kit, try it & then buy it, I'm not influenced by any one or any marketing bollox. Andy. |

Back to the original question.....
Dave, I think the AFG is a great little device, a bit like Marmite, love it or hate it... Works well on the BAR22 and the M2 for me.... If you go vertical, I'd go for the TD stubby, which I did have on the .22 before the AFG.... |

Exclusion from further competition during the Meeting or such other penalty as may be imposed by the Disciplinary Committee 546Any competitor who: huses any artifice to facilitate shooting contrary to the spirit of the Rules (Para 247) All well and good but not specific and open to interpretation, ie make up rules as you go along, and basically a catch all that is up to the whim of whoever on the day. As nearly all AR forends are different, lengths, diameters, have different rail covers, are different colours, allow the sling to be attached in many different ways its all pretty academic and the score difference between 'Open' and 'Service' show no real difference. And as its "Service" shooting and VFG and Bipods are being used by our troops in the sandpit whats the point. May I suggest that as the PR rep you get the rules formally amended to be a little bit more specific, and inclusive, for the 2011/12 Season in respect to railed forends and attachments. |

They would be useful for the WNSC mini rifle shoot - as that includes firing through holes in doors Actually I think that part has more to do with opening doors/windows with the muzzle |

As usual.
