well a heron , any ideas on discouraging one from eyeing up my fish every day . my pond is netted so he cant get in but he just will not go away . and a .22 +can is not an option  |

A mate had a motion sensor operated water jet which swept the pond, it sprayed him sometimes when he forgot to switch it off before going to the pond He bought from an aquatics supply place.
ETA I thought you meant this sort of big bird

OK, what you do is flip through the folds of flesh one by one, sniffing them as you go. When you get to one that smells of shit.....you back up one

| Why don't you invite her around and get her to sit in your garden for a couple of hours; I am guessing she would probably eat the heron - along with any slow moving animals that have the misfortune to frequent your garden during her visit (she might eat your fish to - so probably best to put them in a bucket in the garage) |

You say you've got the pond netted, have you tried putting some uprights around the pond & putting fishing line around the edge in 3 heights, also run a few lines over the pond forming a grid. Herons like to stalk up to their prey & this deters them. Seems to save my humble goldfish.
