All of the above and loads more too.

Bad decisions at all levels leading to mas stupidity.

The list is fucking endless.

Good riddens 2009 you won't be missed.

Scrappage ? Fucking con.

I went for it - 14 year old Pajero 4x4. Offered discount on a new van AND the 2000 quid too. All fine and dandy.

A few days later, came to collect said van - "Sorry Sir, although your 4x4 is indeed 14 years old, it was imported so does not qualify"

Fuck it - guess I will cancel the deal then.

"No No Sir, we will give you a further £1800 discount to make up for it"

So what exactly is the point of scrappage ?

To stimulate the car manufacturing industry........and you as somone who participated in the scheme footed the bill.  This is because what they give you in discount you pay back in VAT on a new car/van that you might otherwise not have bought.  The idea being that by stipulating the vehicles has to be 10 years old or more and has to be scrapped, they will not be flooding the market withsecond hand cars, which at a time of economic hardship are a far more attractive proposition than forking out for a new car.

I am not sure - the dealer gave me almost as much as I would have got in scrappage anway. ON top of the hefty discount I had already negotiated.

If they can afford to knock off 2k anyway, why did the dealers not just offer a huge discount to stimulate THEIR business ?

Why did they need the Govt to spend taxpayers money on it ??

Guess Gordon's best PR efforts weren't enough for 2009. There's always 2010 Mr. Brown

Having had time to gather more information he did a good job, just our rulers and the press haven't caught on to the facts, yet.
