Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice. I currently own 2 Taurus LBR's one in .45acp from blackpowder uk and the other a .44 mag from Bromsgrove shooting. The .45acp is superb never misses a beat and is a pleasure to shoot. The .44 mag is a nightmare. Ever since I bought it I have had problems. I have sent it back to bromsgrove shooting 3 times and they have have it for about 8 and a half months in total. Well I got it back yesterday and took it to the range to try it out. I was assured that they had fixed it and it no longer jamms. Well I tried Privi partizan .44 mag, reload .44 mag and some magtech .44 special. It started jamming after about 30 or 40 rounds? I took it home cleaned it and tried it again. After a full clean It ran 10 rounds before it jammed. Basically it fails to index fully and you have to manually turn the cylinder (only on single action) double action seems ok. . I have emailed the Taurus imported a few times over the last 4 months asking for advice and never once got a reply. I'm guessing the issue is the timing or the extractor/ index star that looks pretty churned up. Any ideas were I can get some spares from or know a gunsmith who has a clue about revolvers. Regards Chris |

Streetfigher,
It never jams on dry fire. Always on live. Doesn't matter if its .44 mag or .44 sp. Jams more once the gun warms up. I tried different factory ammo and different powders in home loads. Checked under the extractor star, cleaned all the parts re oiled and no krud on the force cone.. ect. The importer I contacted was Gareth at Euro guns but no joy |

Well I was loading 4.7 Gn Bullseye, with CCI Magnum primers.... Prior to that it was 11Gn Blue Dot with the same primers....
The foul up was between the cylinder and the forcing cone, but always cleared after a thorough clean... I put it down to unburnt powder gumming up the works? Since I started with the 4.7Gn load I had no probs... |
It seems the best advice on a Taurus that doesn't work is bin it! My experience of them is that you either get one that works or one that doesn't...
Several guys I know have tried sourcing spares with no joy whatsoever. Best advice I have heard is find a good engineer who may be able to fabricate parts or get the barrel chopped and have it converted to a front-stuffer... |
