Judging from the time of his post I'm guessing he's been spending his student loan on booze |
You think? Graduate level courses have to run basic literacy and numeracy classes for Freshers now…

Said it before and will say it again. I left school at 16 and yet I can compose and spell to a fairly good standard. I would be ashamed of myself if I could not do so upon leaving secondary school - anybody who does, has clearly SQUANDARED years of education. |
Well, at least you have secured somewhere to sit and some books to study. As has been observed before now, the appalling standard of your submissions on this site indicates that you have a lot of studying to do. |
Pfttt! Did an A Level in Metalwork in 9 months and got a B! ![]() If you want your cat's head welded onto it's arse, not only can I do it, I can draw up a specification too. |
What version of Word is that? Because I'll make a note to avoid it as it has a shit spellchecker!
|
Yes, spell checker is a great idea. BUT - we are talking about your MOTHER TONGUE here. Yes, we might need help to check unusual words. And yes, nobody is perfect and might make the odd mistake on an easier word here and there. But, surely even with just a secondary school education, we should expect our children to be able to compose sentences and spell 90% of the words correctly ( IN THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE ) without the need for a spell checker ? |

It is not my grasp of my tongue that is the issue it is poor typing. I can say what I want to say and type it but sometimes make errors, caused by motor skills issues and then not reading before hitting submit. My hands are damaged through nerve damage which makes typing occasionally difficult, and generally I am lazy and do not reread before typing. |
