The Government wants to ensure that our very best shooters have the support and coaching to enable them to win medals at the highest level. That is why UK Sport's World Class Performance Programme invests in the sport's National Governing Body, the Great Britain Target Shooting Association (GBTSA). Any additional programmes, either in support of the high performance programme or participation in the sport, would need to be taken forward by the GBTSA in discussion with the sports councils - Sport England and UK Sport. Firearms law requires that applicants for firearm certificates must not pose a danger to public safety. This is not just a matter of training, although training can sometimes play a useful part in helping to meet this requirement. Such training is provided by the national shooting organisations and proposals for additional courses should be taken up with those organisations. |

It struck me as if I was being politely ticked off for being so impertinent as to have become involved with such a caper. Mummy knows best, now behave yourself. Go and get inebriated or whatever else it is that you low life's do between the cradle and the grave. Tony |

Who the *%@$ are the GBTSA? I've been shooting since the early eighties and have never heard of them before. How have they suddenly become responsible for all our target shooting? I'm sure that will be a suprise for the NRA, NSRA and CPSA. ( probably the ISSF and IOC too) I'm sure ther is an entire government department dedicated to finding ( or creating) obscure orginisations that can be quoted to confuse and bamboozle people in response to these e-petitions. |
I'm glad you asked that. I did not want to look like a backwoods yokel by asking the same question |
Got to say it's the first time I knew that they were supposed to be representing us......what about the NRA - where do they fit into this....or do they?

3 pages in on Google (nearest match?) Great Britain Target Shooting Federation 1 The Cedars Great Wakering Southend Essex SS3 0AQ Tel: 01702 219395 Web www.gbtsf-worldclass.co.uk Guess what, the web site doesn't even work. ![]() Linked to these people? www.britishshooting.org.uk/ What concerns me is that there is a possibly HMG cannot even get the name of the organisiation correct, either that, or it is sooooo secret, would shouldn't know |
Spoke to a nice guy called Keith Murray this morning on the telephone number above. He knows nothing of the Government response to the petition but was not surprised that they referred to the GBTFA and not the GBTSF which is the correct title (this organisation “GBTSF” is to change it’s name to “British Shooting” on 1 Apr 08 and the web link above is the correct one for that organisation) as they are after all politicians, although I suspect the response was drafted by a Civil Servant. Martin Farnan of the NRA sits on the GBTSF committee so at least the NRA are represented. Keith made it clear the GBSTF are not the governing body for shooting and the E petition response is incorrect in that respect also. He asked me to forward the response onto him so that he can look into it further. |
| I seem to recall articles in either Gun Mart or Target Sports whereby this organisation, GBTSA/F or whatever their correct title is was touted as the lead organisation concerned in the establishment and promotion of Olympic shooting disciplines, but only these, which would explain why they would want to be cosy with the government, and vice versa... |

Well, I'd like to say thanks to everyone that signed it ![]() To those that didn't ![]() I never thought that it would lead anywhere. I hoped it would but am smart enough to realise that there was no way that these cretins we vote into power would ever remove their heads from their own asses or stop sucking each others c*cks long enough to realise that none of us poses a threat. I noticed on the Airgun BBS that several that signed it thought it was all to do with creating a Civilian militia in line with Defence of the Realm etc. That was never the intention. The PM's lackies still don't even have a clue what a Civilian Marksmanship Program was intended for. Christ, if they don't even know what the GBTSA is, then there was no chance whatsoever this would be approved by the PM, who lets face it, is only PM by default, coz he was never elected by popular mandate and his predecessor only ever got the job because John Smith, who was a lot more rational than his idiotic successors, went and dropped dead. Last year in AZ, we shot with a young lad, 12yr old Tyler Rico at one of the local Highpower matches. He was a first rate shot, and even at only 12, was someone you could hold an adult conversation with. He wiped the floor with us (shot 768 ex 800) and won the match I found this yesterday on a US Highpower website
This is a link to the CMP's website, where they have a citation in recognition of his achievement CMP This is what I hoped we could achieve. I'd imagine that this young lad will become a very well grounded individual in years to come. Unfortunately, it will never be the case. There's no hope left for this country, none at all. The only options left are to put up with it and be subservient for life, or leave. The latter option is becoming more appealing. This place is rotten to the core. Finished. And it's rather strange that the powers that be don't wish to be compared to a nation that to the British pompous stiff upper lip, completely brash and unsophisticated is actually light years ahead of us in attidude, trust and pride......America |
Yep… Pension and gone for me. The Governments obssessive demonization of guns proceeds apace… Toy guns banned Deacts banned About the only things left from the infamous Firearms (non)Consultation Document to be banned are semi automatic .22's and 'military style' shooting. They're next, watch my lips. |
At least he rattled them
