There's nothing at all funny about that. At the last NRA open day, one of our "helpers" came along with his Enforcer with the scope mounted too far back. Coupled with a Butler Creek flip up, it made for quite a nasty item. One newcomer came up and asked to try it. He got scoped and first aid had to be administered. The idiot who owned the rifle thought it was amusing and was heard to mutter afterwards "you have to watch that, it has quite a kick" Later on, still with this complacent attitude, he let someone else shoot it and they got cut open as well. Fred went and told him in no uncertain terms what he should do with his attitude and rifle. He was very chastised after that |
No joke at all. A year or so ago that happened to a lady next to me shooting off a bench. It was one of those things you could see what was going to happen and I told the bloke 'supervising' her she was getting too close. He, a club RCO, did nothing and sure enough she caught a good one over her right eyebrow. Blood everywhere. I did the first aid bit but she had to go to hospital and still has the scar. Fair play to her , she still shoots...........................................RCO's mostly

I could see that coming as the stock went out of the shoulder and i kept wanting to warn her of her impending doom. I haven't had one of those, and any new shooters that I supervise only get to shoot .22 LR or .222 Rem., first time out. My local gunsmith has a S&W mod. 36 that some hunter got covered in deer blood, and it took the finish right off, leaving a strange psychedelic pattern. Tony BTW. we have got a sh1t load of snow. |

Years ago when I was a kid, I used to frequent an airgun club on Thurs evenings. Every now and again, the local Police would turn up for a look round and a coffee and a chat etc. One night, two Policeman turned up and after a few minutes, one of them asked if he could have a go. When asked if he needed any tuition he replied that he was firearms trained and shot much larger stuff than this.......After warning him about the HW80 he proceeded to fire & hit himself in the head with the scope, which resulted in the usual half moon cut above his eye.... His colleague thought it was hilarious....I think that was our first ever injury at that range

There is a 90% + chance that the only firearms you see a Police AFO with are the only ones that he/she knows anything about, and that won't be much..............
