Hi Vimto

Welcome to ARFCOM

I don't think it would be a problem coming up on Saturday, but I think it would probably be best to contact the Club Secretary first, John Masefield & have a chat with him. His contact info is on the FCSA website.

Let me know if you can't get in touch with him or if you have any Q's etc.

Cheers
Steven

Hi Vimto
Welcome to the forum

Senny this weekend is a joint Offas Dyke / FCSA shoot and John is Secretary of both. Guests usually welcome, finding F range can be a challenge.  The plus is that it's cleared for tracer

Eh?

Thats not entirely true!

Due to a recent military incident in Northern Ireland (where some squadies were shooting their  M2 HMG on an inappropriate range, and projectiles were landing in a local town), Warminister  panicked, and imposed excessively large emergency danger areas for all .50BMG shooting, including for civilians with their bolt action rifles, and very few ranges have the space for these new danger areas. Sennybridge is too small, so is Warcop, so atm its just Lydd in Kent that has the space, so we can still shoot .50's there.

money for range fee (about £10)  I don't want to spoil your day Vimto but a field firing range like F Range is probably not the best way to start long range shooting.  The targets are at random distances, no back stops so no indication of fall of shot if you miss.  Tracer helps.  G Range on Monday 22nd would be a better option, or Llansilin on 28th.

Thanx all for the advice were do you buy tracer from? I'll still go just to see the place and talk to the other shooters it be a nice drive from grimsby about 5 hrs lol what time is it starting?
10/10/2007 8:52:36 AM EDT
[#22]
There is sometimes some tracer available to buy on the day. Field firing can be good fun but tracer is a must really IM Inbound to you

Heres some pics from Sennybridge yesterday.

First, the stunning view to FIBUA across the valley off the access road

FIBUA from the sentry hut, yes I did my turn

Good turnout, Steven uk is the tall guy in black

AI AW and REM700 AICS conversion

Newbie Vimto (John) with his own rifle

Vimto and my M4. Look at that smile, think he got the bug

The range complex. ETR out to 1240 mts yesterday according to the RCO. The tracer had gone out by the time it reached the furthest anyway

The furthest target is between the vehicle and piles of tyres

Never seen one of these before, so come on someone educate me

A couple more good pics to follow when my mate Emails them to me

Thanks to Offas Dyke and the FCSA for a good day out

Yeah thats the DSR.

I know a guy who has one, and had a chance to fondle it in the shop. He promised me a shoot with it next time i see him on the range

Beautiful rifles. So well designed, and smooth to use. One of the best .308's available in my opinion. Although they are a lot of money. About £5k if i remember correctly!

I wish i could have gone to Senny this weekend, but i was on a base in Norfolk on London OTC selection weekend!

I'll try and make the next one though!

Actually it isn't, Tirabad is the name of a proper Welsh village to the North of the military area and out of bounds to military traffic, map.  FIBUA village and F range is further South here
