Next stupid question, how do people clean their AR's.

Always taught to use pull through with patch soaked in solvent and then clean patches, never used brush, but things have moved on recently.

Also what about lubricating after cleaning.

And finally, what products do people recommend.

I use my old SA80 cleaning gear basically, with abit of 009 here and there, but yea you cant beat a pull through, 2x2 flannelette, youngs oil (love the smell) and the main thing I recommend is time and TLC. If its still dirty, the flannelete will be dirty.

I highly recommend M-Pro 7.

It's bio-degradable, doesn't smell and is harmless. Lets face it, some of these cleaners are very toxic.

M-Pro 7 removes residue from powder and other fouling. It also gets under the carbon and copper.
One of the better cleaners around

Midway I think.

I got mine from the US.
Comes in a pump spray.
There's also a bore gel and copper remover but the std cleaner does it all.

I use a pull through with KG cleaning gear.

KG 1 carbon remover
KG3 solvent & degreaser
KG4 gun oil
KG12 big bore cleaner

All pretty good stuff

I'm a bit like timlad - old SA80 cleaning kit and a big bottle of pusser's oil. Maybe I'm too mean but it seems to work on all the guns I've ever used.

Drag the brush through the bore then a couple of bits of dry flannalette followed by an oily bit. Lots of rubbing, brushing and scraping of anything with carbon and a final oil (with the brush from the bottle) and leave it till the next time.

At the end of the day, cleaning is cleaning.

For the most part, I just leave mine, then once in a while have a big clean up.

Still like the M-Pro 7 though
