I think the RO's would be a bit upset if started using my 7.62 on steels at 20m. I'd also get crap times..................

Range booking wasn't cancelled by the Army, they shot at 100yds on B range we shot at 300 & 600 on A.  A bit of mis-information by a club sec to cover lack of interest by members who are happy to shoot full bore at 25 / 50 yds IMHO

Sorry but I'm being a bit thick here, were the Army using the range (distance immaterial)?

Academic really as I was in the land of flu virus, but I was just curious.

Yes
Two ranges A & B.  Army shoot there most weekends, usually on B but only in the mornings leaving up to play on A.  And since A has over 20 lanes it can accommodate several clubs.  I saw that you had the flu anyway, think I'm getting it as well.
