| My wife and I have recently returned from a 4 day break in Paris. A long promised trip to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It is a beautiful city and well worth a visit if you haven't been. I was surprised how many architectural links it has with London and the UK. Only downside, apart from being pretty expensive, was all the beggars and con artists. We obviously stood out as tourists, but were getting approached three or four times a day with the same 'found gold ring' con..We never fell for it but saw others getting fleeced by some fairly aggressive characters, usually Middle Eastern or North African in appearance. |

Ah i I see they tried the old 'fake gold' trick. Its quite popular here on the continent (thank god no so much in the Netherlands).
Other cons to watch out for are fake designer stuf, and the Netherlands there have been quite a few fake police officers shaking down tourists Fake plain clothed police get busted by real police Good to hear you didnt fall for it and enjoyed the city |
