Going to be driving through NM on my way to Colorado. Probably going to be stopping in for gas somewhere along the way. I have my nv ccw and transporting my guns with me. What do I need to do of anything while driving through. Thanks!

Stay out of the reservations and avoid drunk drivers.

Unfortunately NM doesn't recognize Nevada's CC permit.  However if you don't try to rob any gas stations along the way you should be fine.  A vehicle is considered an extension of your residence and having or carrying on your person is ok in a vehicle.  If you exit your vehicle, don't CC, open carry is allowed with some restrictions.  It would be best to check the laws @ http://www.dps.nm.org/index.php/nm-concealed-carry/reciprocity-agreements/  If I made any mistakes I'm sure some of the old pro's will correct me.
Have a safe trip!

Edited to add:  Yipy gives excellent advice!  Reservations are off limits for firearms for us white devils! For that matter black, brown, yellow or green unless you are a tribal member with an OK.  So don't stop at any reservations for gas, gambling or sight seeing!

Another edit:  CQ sent me the latest change that it is now OK to CC carry in NM State Parks, a big win for all of us!

let me just touch on something...

Open carry is legal for just about anyone age 19 and above.. (Barring you're legally able to carry a weapon.. but I digress). You CANNOT open carry into any place that sells alcohol for on site or off site consumption.. That includes most walmarts, any gas station and/or grocery store that sells beer or alcohol.. (Most do). Doing so would be a felony. Topping your gas off and paying at the pump are as far as I am aware, legal to do. You just cannot open carry your weapon inside the store.

Have a safe trip!
