Does anyone here in the NM HTF personally know GAU5-A-A, or at least a way to contact him?

He made this post about treating 3rd degree burns:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_17/653197_Treating_3rd_degree_infected_burns___how_.html&page=1

He hasn't logged into arfcom for almost a month now.

Hopefully he got some help and is in recovery.

He's done quite a few EE transactions. Someone must have his contact info. I can't imagine what would cause someone to avoid a hospital in such a case.

No contact info for Gau5, just hoping he's ok.

Some of the locals are true old school, never go to the doctor folks. Know this farm chick that is like that. Currently has a life threatening condition and still will not go.  C'est la vie, or whatever happens.

Did you use the "Email User" button in that thread to try and contact him?

Well at least we're not like that in Indiana. I just had a complete physical checkup  (in 1981)!

Personally, I think we're beyond "sending an email" to GAU5-A-A.  If he's not logging in, there stands a good chance at the whole not even getting to a computer to check email.  But I went ahead and sent him an email anyways.  I will obviously update with a reply if I get one.

Doesn't anyone in the HTF know him?  Perhaps where he lives, works, etc?   Surely with all his feedback ratings there is someone that has at least a phone number for the guy.  But of course those transactions might not all be FTF in NM, he could've ordered a lot of stuff from out of state.

Saw your update in your original thread.  Glad you are recovering from  your trauma.

Perhaps I missed it in the original thread, but I was lead and believed that your burns were larger than what they looked like in the picture you posted.  In the picture you posted, it appears the burn is about dime to quarter sized?   I might not have been the only one thinking that the burns were covering a much larger area, and thus the need for urgency in seeking professional medical care.  By not adequately describing the extend of the injuries or providing some means of a visual, we all ASSumed the worst and figured your burns were a much larger area.

I feel I speak for the majority of people here when I say that your desire to not seek medical care certainly gave off the impression that you failed to recognize the gravity of the  situation you were in.  Knowing what we know now based on this update, I think we can understand your thought process in not wanting to seek professional help.

The people of this site truly want what is best for you, don't take their advice the wrong way.  Just remember, its only the internet.  You've been a part of this site for a long time, I think by leaving the site for good would leave a void here.  Please don't make a rash decision to leave based on your perception of how we all reacted.  Put yourself in our shoes as well, and  you might understand where we come from.

We're all glad you're still here with us and hope you will choose to continue to be a part of our community.

In the original thread, I stated the burns were one inch in diameter.
This photo shows one burn, after three weeks of treatment. It has shrunk in size approximately 40%.

IME, the medical treatment I've received from various NM doctors, specialists, and hospitals has been abysmal.   I can, and have, provided better treatment myself.   The costs were a secondary issue.

I have nothing but respect for the NMHTF members.

But, as website, AR15.COM has been a poor investment of my time and efforts.

The internet as a whole is mosty a poor investment of time.
I do try to stay away from gd, and stick to the htf and technical forums. A lot less drama.
I have met a lot of good people because of the nmhtf.

I hope you continue to check in on us.

I'm glad that you're on the mend and am sorry that your time here on the site hasn't been more rewarding to you.

For the record, what you posted in the survival forum was this:

I've already wasted hours surfing the net, and reading medical books. Seems every answer I find is "see a doctor", which isn't an option right now.

Burns resulted from flammable liquids onto mil boots, which ignited the boot nylon sides, which allowed the nylon to burn deep into the feet. Skin is gone, nerves are dead, tissue is infected.

My home remedies aren't showing any improvements.

Good luck with things.

I also posted this in that thread...

"The areas of infection are all slightly larger than 1" in diameter. They haven't grown substantially".

That measurement was accurate a month ago.   After picking out the burned sock and boot material, there was only dull white tissue in the burns.   No blood was visible, body fluids seeped out and coagulated over them, but after two weeks, there was no healing.   Once the infection set in, the coagulation liquified and pus began oozing out.    After cleaning them out and applying antibiotics, antiseptics and medical dressings, the blood returned and the holes began shrinking.

If people assumed the size of the infections were larger, based on the information presented in the original thread, then that is due to a reading comprehension problem.

My statements of...

“So,
How long before death?”

“I think I still have a little time to try home remedies, before my feet fall off. “

“Apparently, medical maggots are "prescription only". But if I do go this route, I'll post pics.”

...should have made it clear that I did not believe these burns were serious, and that I was not looking for sympathy.

Guys,

... have a fun life.
