First off, all the airsoft commandos can quit reading now and move along.  This will not interest you.

I want to use airsoft to train for close range pistol work.  It's been a while since I've done this, hoping to stir up some interest.  Looking for airsoft gun (good quality, comparable to real weapon) sources and people here to train with.

I have a source for some stuff but curious what others recommend.

I feel kinda ill too.

I'm trying to get a good handgun now, that will fit my existing holster.

If we do our research hopefully most gear will be our normal gear, just airsoft guns for practice.

As someone who grew up playing with the shit, then transitioned to firearms as soon as I could I knew a bit about the things.

I was more of a grease monkey with the things than an airsofter though, I never dressed up in camo, but I did make a fortune off building them.

Real Sword
Guarder/Intruder Shop

Stay away from the china clones, they're ok but they don't last unless you know how to open up the gearbox and fix their shit gear shimming & other issues common with the Chicom clones.  Buy in should be around $300 for a quality rifle, if you're paying any more than $300 for a name brand gun you should be building your own or having one built.  Force on Force though, you should be GTG with a KWA pistol, and JG rifle if you don't plan on shooting each other with them.

Western Arms is the absolute best in gas handguns. Their stuff is licensed by Wilson, Infinity, and the like. KSC is the second best.

Guarder and Inokatsu are likewise, the absolute best in rifles. But their stuff costs as much, if not more than their real counterparts.

Internals are fairly simple in design. If you can take apart an automotive transmission and re-assemble it in working condition you can work on the electrics. Gas guns are built like paintball guns internally with valves and the like, if you can work on rubber seals you're gtg on those.

P.S.

Having this at 15 is a big reason why I developed BRD, & a strong hatred of the NFA later in life.

Inokatsu/Guarder AK74SU built on a real stamped AK receiver before the ATF put a stop to them coming in.

I have a retail account with BUDK, they have several comparable airsoft.

This is a spring loaded set, you can mount any applicable optics on the quad rail and comes with a 1911 knock-off.

I can get em' for $13/set if we order more than $75 worth.

I ordered 2 pistols today.  Should be good quality but I'd like to test them before I recommend them.  Ther were about 65 bucks each.

Those fuckers hurt.

We used to take crossman 720 pump guns, cut the barrel off right in front of the bbl band, and counter bore the barrel about 7 inches then load them up like mini shotguns with 8 brass bbs and a piece of tissue at the rear for a seal.

With a fullsized stock still attached it worked like a blunderbuss, 30 pumps, or until you couldn't manage to close the action anymore produced enough power to kill small animals.  Spread was huge at 30 feet, enough to cover the ground around the bird feeder my parents had.

Black Birds hated me.

When Airsoft came along we did the same thing but counter bored them out to 8mm so we could use the Marushin 8mm plastic pellets..

I had to pry the bbs out of my buddies back with a pair of needle nose plyers.

After a few times facing down my own creation and losing.. horribly.. I sprung for the weapon mounted gas shell launchers made by CAW, then eventually traded up to the revolver launchers.

Nothing quite like kicking a barn door in and hearing "SHIIT" as the occupants see that revolving launcher coming around the corner first.

If I wasn't so afraid, and paranoid of ATF asshattery I'd buy one of the new airsoft ELGM 40mm launchers for my SCAR-16S. Just because they're that much fun.

Airsoft is much more fun when you play in blue jeans and t-shirts. No little marine wanna-be kid barking orders or serious bsns asshats to ruin things. It was more like Cops vs robbers for us.

They're clones of the Marui Hi-cappa & Westren Arms Infinity.

Shouldn't have any issues keeping that one up and running, parts from the Japanese guns can be fitted to it if the need arises. Which is a huge plus.

M&P and the majority of China clone guns are well after my time.

I came of age and dropped airsoft like a sack of rocks around the time the first Chinese AEGs hit the market.

I believe it was the UTG Mp-5 & UTG AK47 that prompted me to sell off what I had. Writing was on the wall that everything was going to be devalued even back then.

They look like they've regressed..

Older stuff was spot on, down to the fit and finish to the real thing. sometimes even better.. I've got an almost black.. belgian blued AKM sitting back home in grease that really jaded me in regards to what an AK was supposed to look like. WASRs never lasted with me long because of that gun..

I'd be interested in a report as to how the internals look on that Glock, as when I left.. c02 cartridge system guns were fairly rare and expensive. The technology hadn't been perfected yet in China.

I'm surprised that the RRPD or ATF didn't stop by house the past couple days with how my son has been dressed.  Ever since he got his airsoft pistol yesterday he's been walking around with it holstered (he loves it).  At all times of the day I've been hearing random "pop-pop-pop" coming from outside as he decides to see how fast he can empty his mag.  Luckily there aren't any houses across the street from us, which is where he has been shooting.

I took the pic infront of a plant to give it a little "Vietnam dramatic effect".  Notice the pistol, pineapple grenade, knife, and extra mag around his waist...I have no idea where he gets it from
