What is going on with the weather here in Albuquerque? I'm not complaining, it's just been a month or so since we've had a decent, warm, clear, sunny summer day! Some think it's just the typical monsoon season. The monsoons roll in during the late afternoon, after a reasonably hot day, and rain for maybe 20-30 minutes. This isn't monsoons, it's something else. The valley has flooded twice already in the last few weeks. The extended forecast doesn't appear to be showing any significant changes in the near future. -Gunner |

Well, I'm complaining! In ten years, I've never seen this amount of rain. In the past 60 days, I think there have been about 10 days that I haven't seen rain. And instead of the brief localized showers typical of this climate, some days have seen torrential downpours lasting hours. I work outdoors a lot, and have lost jobs because of this weather. I have equipment that is normally well protected by just a shed, which has rusted beyond economical repair. I can't wait to see what winter will be like. |

No kidding! According to the records (as I understand it), it's never been this green in the foothills. I read a story last week about how from 1 July to 15 August, we usually get 3pointsomething inches of rain, and this year we've gotten elevenpointsomething. I'm not complaining - I know it will go back to dry and sunny one of these days. In the meantime, I'll just squint my eyes and pretend I'm back home in Indiana! |

Yeah, I'm amazed at how green the mountains look. I don't believe in my 18 years of living here that I've ever seen that much green in the foothills. I can understand that for some the weather has adverse effects on their ability to earn a living. It is unfortunate, but on the other hand we've really needed moisture like this for quite some time. I don't mind the cooler temperatures either. It beats the upper 90's and low 100's we would normlly have this time of year. |

Gunner, that's a trip: I moved here 18 years ago as well! June of '88! Far out - amazing how the place has grown, eh? My wife, who's been in ABQ since she was a kid, says that it's the greenest she remembers. Her parents (who are in their 70s and may have a touch of the rose-colored-glasses of memory) say it used to be like this every summer. . . |

I work outside also, the moisture is really nice breaking the looong drought and all but holy cow! Its green, its cooler, and everyone downstream of us is getting alot of water, good for the farmers. My job has been really tough also, it will pass. Stock up on mosquito spray It really is nice and green. |

It's grossly out of norm all over the state. In our area, generally the dryest in the state, we have had between 10 and 20 inches the last few weeks. My backyard is 90% covered by large pecan trees. I hope it will dry out sometime in September, but at this rate I'm not sure. ![]() Last Friday afternoon, my sister had 4" of rain in 30 minutes, along with a micro-burst, at her house. Of course, we live exactly 2 miles away down the same road and got nothing.
