What type of area are you looking for? How far are you willing to commute? What part of LR?

I will be working near downtown. Looking for about a 30 min commute. Prefer good schools.

Saline County or Cabot would both be good bets.  If you want good schools and out of the city.
East End, to the south,  is more country and safer than the city.

I currently live in Maumelle. If you are looking for Dallas style subdivisions with busy body housewife neighbors with the HOA on speed dial then Maumelle is the place for you.

The icing on the cake is that we are still technically in PuCo so our high property taxes are going to support the south of I-630 crowd...I can't wait to move.

The only good thing about maumelle is I could leave a $100 bill taped to my front door and go out of town for a week and it will still be there when I get home.

I have a good friend that has lived in Cabot and commuted to LR for the last 8 years.  He and his wife just put there house up for sale because he says the schools there are going down the drain.  Hes got two kids in elementary school and says the schools are getting worse every year.  They are actually moving to the Searcy school district.

On a different note, I moved to a fairly large newer subdivision in the Shannon Hills / Southeast Alexander area 5 years ago, and this area has definitely gone down hill.  Most of the decent people have moved and its mostly riff raff now.  I am planning on moving within the next 2 years.

I guess I should clarify.

South of 630, north of 30, east of 430...

Besides, I didn't think you were PuCo?

I would commute from Bentonville before moving to LR.
Sorry, that is all I have to add.

12 years in LR, 6 in Bentonville.
I'm with this guy.

That said, if you can at all swing it, live in west LR in the Chenal area and north of Kanis, deal with the traffic, and know that in 10 years you will need to move further west as your area will then be in decline.  Sorry for the honesty.

Thanks for all the input guys. I appreciate the advice and you confirmed a few things! I think we may stay down in the Benton/Bryant area.

I live in LR east of 430. However, it's only about 350 yards east of 430.

Would not leave $100 bill taped to door.  I say it's not that bad here, even though every fast food joint and some banks within 2 miles of my house have been robbed.  Not to mention the murder at the now closed Mexican restaurant across the street.

Sure, compared to DC, Detriot, or Southwest LR in the 90's.
