What is it like to live there?

Good, bad, and the ugly?

Searcy isn't a bad place. Small town living but has most of the amenities you'll need. Little Rock is a a 50 mile drive, but it's all 70 mph road. Decent schools. Decent hospital.

Nothing wrong with Searcy. Decent schools with plenty of stores without most of the hassles of big city living.

Not to far from a pretty decent range in Bald Knob.

I've lived there twice.....1984-1987 and again in 2003-2006.
There are at least 3 good gun shops.  There are 3 private clubs (Elks, VFW & Country Club).
Schools are very good.  My biggest issue is that it is dry and local politics is/was controlled by Harding University.
There is a nice long bike trail and it is a good place to raise a family (i.e.: boring).
The majority of the city's growth I the last 6-7 years has been related to Fayetteville Shale.  Searcy is a hub for many of the gas-related companies.

All the above is spot on.   Lived in searcy from 74-90, moved to MO til 2012 and moved back to searcy.  If you are used to big city amenities, they aren't here. Job market can be tough but I'm assuming you are moving for your job??

Traffic on RACE almost always sucks. The 3 gun shops that I attempted to patronize were disappointing. The tellers at the First Security bank were exceedingly friendly and helpful.

If I had a dollar for every time that I was abducted by aliens while visiting Searcy I would have no money at all.

School seems great. It has some rules that some may find it hard to live by but they've relaxed their rules a bit in the last 20 years since I was there. Seems to have a great reputation.

Good school
Dry county
Great outdoor range close
Great 100 yard indoor range.
Ok amenities with more in LR 50 mins away.
DARC-tons of fun
Lacking in meet/greet/eat, movie nights, and shooting events compared to KC and StL.

It's near some world-class waterfowl hunting if you are into that.
