Hi,
I just found out that I have received orders to move to AR. I've lived in AZ for the past six years and we can have pretty much anything and do pretty much anything with what we have. Can you guys give me a brief rundown of you gun/CC laws? Thanks in advance. |

What is it with AZ these days?
My co-worker (Army Reservist) just moved here from Phoenix area. My sister's husband now has orders to Tuscon. Now you. We are NOT an open carry state, concealed only. Depending on were you're going to live, there are options in different areas for CQB type training, but I'm not sure about regular range access where you can move around. As far as I know, you have to join a club and participate in a match, which are run a couple times monthly all over the place. I personally would like to do 3-gun, but have not yet found any local matches. Lots of available hunting if that is what you're into. We are the only state in the union that has the "journey law," which is our version of open carry, so to speak. Do your homework, lots of resources for that. |

Arkansas is a relatively free state but not anywhere close to AZ. As was mentioned no Open Carry, but we're working on it. Background check for Concealed Carry permits makes it slightly easier to make a gun purchase if you have the permit/license. However the law here is written not very well for those with carry licenses. It's worded "It is a defense to prosecution...." blah, blah, blah. Kinda stupid but there it is. Got some restricted carry areas like gov buildings, police departments, courts, etc. Also have the option for a business to post a no carry message but it's got to be within a defined parameter.
But if you're a hunter there are no mag limits(doesn't include Migratory birds since that is covered by Federal law), you can hunt with suppressed weapons and even fully automatic. Night hunting for hogs only on private land. Huge Waterfowl flyway if you're a Duck/Goose hunter. |
